Youth Sermon: Let It Go

Introduction

Hey God, help us to drop the stuff that's slowing us down and messing with our relationship with you. Show us how to swap out the bad stuff for the good stuff you've got for us. In Jesus' name, Amen!

You know how it feels when you're carrying a heavy backpack all day? It's exhausting, right? Well, we all have invisible backpacks filled with stuff from our past that's weighing us down. It's time to lighten the load.

Imagine you're running a race, but you're carrying a heavy backpack. It's filled with rocks, each one labeled with stuff like anger, bitterness, or unforgiveness. It's slowing you down, right? That's what our emotional baggage does to us.

It's time to lighten the load.

Identifying the Baggage

First, we gotta figure out what's in our backpack. We can do this through prayer, talking with friends we trust, or getting help from a counselor.

Once we know what's in there, we need to bring it out into the open. Admitting our mistakes and asking for forgiveness is like taking those rocks out of our backpack. It's not easy, but it's so worth it.

Running the Race

And remember, this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Growing in our faith takes time, and we gotta trust that God's got a plan for us.

Jesus wants us to live life to the fullest, not weighed down by a bunch of rocks in our backpack. So let's ditch the extra weight and run our race with freedom. Trust in God's plan and live in the light.

Conclusion

This week, take some time to think about what's in your backpack. Talk to God about it, and ask Him to help you start removing those rocks one by one.

God, thanks for always being there for us. Help us to identify and let go of the stuff that's weighing us down. We trust in your plan for us and want to live in your light. In Jesus' name, Amen!
