Read (Rom 3:4) Let God be true, but every man a liar.

There is a plague that is infesting Christianity today, it’s a plague of ignorance combined with the arrogance of man. People today put their thoughts, their feelings, and their word above that of Gods.

Read John 12:48

Now we all agree from this verse that the word of God is above anything I say, anything you say, anything you feel and believe. That’s why it’s important that you follow along in the bible and make sure that what I am saying is correct. So that according to II Tim 2:15 we are able to “rightly divide the truth”. Again, Let God be true, but every man a liar.

Have you ever heard someone say that whatever they read in the bible and how they interpret it that’s what it means to that person? So, to them whatever they “feel” is correct IS correct to them.

Let’s read II Peter 1:20

So you can see from this that NO scripture is of any private interpretation – in other words God had it written to be understood ONE way. So for anyone to say what they read and interpret is how it is to them is WRONG. You can’t interpret the bible; you can only understand it through study. Again, Let God be true, but every man a liar.

Now I want to know, what would be the ONLY reason you would change something in how you believe, how you worship, and how you teach? Why would you ever change your mind when it comes to something like this? One reason and one reason only, that’s if you find that according to the bible you were doing something wrong. I look around and I see denominations changing their beliefs, their worship, and when I ask them why, they say it “feels” better.

Read Leviticus 10:1

Now I want you too look at these two. We know that incense was a way of worshiping God. We also know that God told them HOW to worship him in this way, and they disobeyed. Look at what God did to them.

Also in II Samuel 6:6

Look here he was trying to save it from falling, but still he disobeyed God’s command. So tell me why do people today think they can change their worship, and everything about Christianity against God’s word and it be okay? Do you think God all of sudden became so mellow that he doesn’t care what we do when it comes to worshiping him? Is our word better than God’s? Does our idea of worship override what the bible says?

Again, Let God be true, but every man a liar.

So why do people change God’s word and go with what they feel is best?

II Tim 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kindom;

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season, REPROVE, REBUKE, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Now if we are to REPROVE AND REBUKE that mean’s it’s important that we are correct and be correcting others with the truth. Why is there a need to reprove and rebuke?

Let’s read on.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Look at this – but after their own lusts. That’s talking about what they “feel” is right.

Let’s continue….

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

And shall be turned unto fables – they will believe made up fictional fairy tales instead of God’s word.

Again, Let God be true, but every man a liar.

Now I want to ask you, why is God’s word so important, why must we be careful to do exactly what it says, and why should we tell people who are confused about it?

Read II Tim 3:16-17

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

God’s word his scripture right here in this book in this verse it tells us that it’s not only good for doctrine, but also for reproof, and correction….which means that people can be wrong. And IF it wasn’t important to correct them then God would not have had this verse put in here.

II Thes 2:11-12

And once again, Let God be true, but every man a liar….

Last Wednesday as you know one of our members passed out on the way to the car, it was the flu, but it could have been much worse, we don’t have the promise of tomorrow. We never know what’s going to happen next and when it comes to God’s word and our Christian life we don’t need to take chances, it’s a gamble that could cost more than we want to pay.
