LESSONS TO BE LEARNED FROM ACHAN

JOSHUA 7:1-13 (6:17-19)

I. TAKE GOD SERIOUSLY

1.The nation today has an authoritative problem

2.State of the Union (innogural address)

A.1/3 of all babies conceived in our nation end in abortion

B.School Districts are being sued for allowing prayer in schools

C.Same sex marriage is now possible inside the united states

D.Pornography in so widespread and protected that it is virtually impossible to protect our children

E.Idol Worship to point that we no longer realize how rampant it is

F.The word adultery has been changed to sound less offensive

G.lying and deceipt has become such a way of life, that it is inching it’s way into every home in America

3.Psalms 66:7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

II. DON’T EXPECT GOD’S PROTECTION WHEN YOU INTENTUOUSLY GO AGAINST HIS WORD AND LAWS

1. It is foolish

2. Example = jumping from a plane (gravity) or sticking finger in a light socket (elec.)

III. YOUR SIN WILL FIND YOU OUT

IV. DON’T BECOME SO COMFORTABLE THAT YOU LET DOWN YOUR SHIELD OF FAITH

When things are going good it is easy to forget that your protection comes from God.

V. YOUR SINS AFFECT OTHER PEOPLE

Numbers 14:18 “"I, the Lord, am not easily angered, and I show great love and faithfulness and forgive sin and rebellion. Yet I will not fail to punish children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for the sins of their parents.

1. They affect your family and your friends

VI.YOU WILL NOT WIN THE DAILY BATTLES AGAINST SATAN WHEN GOD IN NOT ON YOUR SIDE

VII.THE ANGER OF THE LORD WILL KINDLE AND BURN HOTTER EACH DAY UPON THOSE WITH SIN IN THEIR HEART -- REPENT AND TURN BEFORE YOU FIND THE SAME FATE AS ACHAN AND HIS FAMILY

VIII.IF YOU HAVE NEVER REPENTED AND ASKED JESUS INTO YOUR HEARTAS SAVIOUR AND LORD; YOU HAVE A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM
