This sermon explores the importance of remembering our shared history, valuing our heritage, and continually honoring God for His blessings and deliverance.

Introduction

Welcome, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. It is indeed a joyous occasion to gather together in the house of the Lord to reflect, learn, and grow in our shared faith.

Opening Scripture Reading – We are here today to delve into the depths of Deuteronomy, a book that is often overlooked but holds a wealth of wisdom and insight. Our focus today is on Deuteronomy 6:10-12 which reads: "And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities that you did not build, and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full, then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery."

Summary – What a powerful reminder this is! We are being reminded of the importance of remembering our history, our heritage, and most importantly, our God. We will be examining these three areas in our sermon today: Harvesting History: The Importance of Shared Experiences, Honing our Heritage: The Value of Passed Down Wisdom, and Honoring Him: The Significance of Remembering God.

As we prepare our hearts and minds for the message today, let us remember the words of the great Christian author, A.W. Tozer, who once said, "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." So let us reflect on this quote, on our passage from Deuteronomy, and on the messages that will be shared today. Let us open our hearts and minds to the wisdom and insight that God has for us.

Opening Prayer – Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for this day and for the opportunity to gather together in Your name. We ask that You open our hearts and minds to the message that You have for us today. Help us to remember our history, to value our heritage, and to always honor You in all that we do. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Transition – May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, our Rock and our Redeemer. Let us now delve into the richness of God's Word.

Harvesting History: The Importance of Shared Experiences

A. The first aspect of this idea that we will look at is the importance of remembering our shared experiences. The Israelites were about to enter a land that was filled with the evidence of the work and faithfulness of others. They were about to reap the benefits of a harvest that they did not plant. This is a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering our shared experiences.

B. The second aspect of this idea that we will look at is the danger of forgetting the Lord in the midst of abundance. The Israelites were warned not to forget the Lord when they entered the Promised Land. They were warned not to forget the Lord when they ate and were full. This is a powerful reminder of the danger of forgetting the Lord in the midst of abundance.

C. The third aspect of this idea that we will look at is the power of shared experiences to shape our faith. The Israelites were about to enter a land that was filled with the evidence of the work and faithfulness of others. They were about to reap the benefits of a harvest that they did not plant. And these shared experiences were meant to shape their faith and their relationship with the Lord.

D. The fourth and final aspect of this idea that we will look at is the importance of passing down wisdom from one generation to the next. The Israelites were warned not to forget the Lord when they entered the Promised Land. They were warned not to forget the Lord when they ate and were full. And this wisdom was meant to be passed down from one generation to the next.

Transition – So let us think about God. Let us remember our shared experiences. Let us remember the Lord in the midst of abundance. And let us pass down wisdom from one generation to the next.
