Sermons

Summary: This sermon will give some suggestions on how to have a better New Year.

Text: Luke 5:33-39

Title: “Leaving the mean in 2013!”

Introduction: Jesus defended his disciples from the critics.

I. Stop complaining! The Living Bible translates verse 33 this way: “Their next complaint was that Jesus’ disciples were feasting instead of fasting.”

II. Stop comparing! Jesus’ disciples were being compared to the disciples of John and the Pharisees

III. Stop the compulsion to fix everything!

1. Patching the old garments.

2. Stretching the new old wineskins.

Conclusion: Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
