Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Being part of God’s Kingdom means being born again and living according to His values. It’s not just about going to heaven; it’s about experiencing God’s Kingdom here and now.
This week, we're diving into what it means to be citizens of God's Kingdom. So, let's imagine for a second that you're a citizen of a country, say, the Kingdom of Candyland. Sounds fun, right? But being a citizen means you've got to follow the rules of Candyland. You can't just go around eating all the candy houses or stealing lollipops from the lollipop trees. There are rules to follow and responsibilities to uphold.
Now, let's bring it back to reality. When we choose to follow Jesus, we become citizens of God's Kingdom. We don't have to earn our spot or pass a test. It's like we're born into it. Jesus even said we must be born again to see and enter the Kingdom of God.
When we choose to follow Jesus, we become citizens of God's Kingdom.
Being a citizen of God's Kingdom means we're His kids. We're loved by our Heavenly Dad and we've got the privilege and responsibility to live by His Kingdom rules. And these rules aren't about power, wealth, or beauty like the world's rules. God's Kingdom values are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Now, don't get it twisted. Heaven is awesome, but God wants His Kingdom to be present here on earth too. Jesus taught us to pray for God's Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. So, our main goal should be seeking God's Kingdom, not just focusing on getting to heaven.
Living in God's Kingdom can be tough because it's different from the world. But as God's kids, we've got an inheritance from Him and the freedom to live confidently in His light. We can't earn our way into God's Kingdom. It's a gift we receive through faith in Jesus. Once we're in, our job is to learn how to live by its values.
God wants to give us His Kingdom and take care of all our needs. We don't need to stress about stuff because our Heavenly Dad knows what we need. We can trust Him and seek His Kingdom above everything else.
So, remember, being part of God's Kingdom means being born again and living by His values. It's not just about getting to heaven; it's about experiencing God's Kingdom here and now. Let's seek His Kingdom and trust Him to take care of us as we live as His kids.
God, thank you for inviting us into Your Kingdom. Help us to live by Your values and trust You to take care of our needs. We want to experience Your Kingdom here and now. In Jesus' name, Amen.
