This sermon explores the valuable leadership lessons we can glean from observing the humble ant.

Introduction

Have you ever considered the wisdom we can gain from observing ants? The Bible encourages us to learn from these tiny creatures in Proverbs 6:6-9 and Proverbs 30:25. Ants are fascinating creatures with much to teach us. They come in over 10,000 different species and possess incredible strength, able to lift 20 times their own body weight. They construct structures 500 times their height and have 250,000 brain cells. Despite their short lifespan of 45-60 days, ants accomplish a great deal. Let us now delve into the lessons we can learn from ants.

I. Ants Teach Us About Efficiency

a. To be efficient, we need a plan. Just as ants have a clear plan when building their anthills, we must have a vision and purpose in all that we do as a church.

b. Efficiency requires participation. Ants all have specific roles and responsibilities, and they diligently carry them out without needing constant supervision. We should approach our tasks with the same level of commitment and dedication.

c. Efficiency thrives in an environment of peace. Ants work together harmoniously, focusing on their tasks rather than engaging in conflicts. As a church, we must strive for unity and peace among our members.

II. Ants Teach Us About Partnership

a. Ants demonstrate solidarity by living together in colonies and working as a team. Similarly, as believers, we are called to work together and support one another.

b. Ants exemplify sharing by providing food, facilities, and care for each other's young. We should also be generous and willing to share our resources with others.

c. Ants show support for one another, and we should do the same within our church community.

III. Ants Teach Us About Preparedness

Ants are diligent in preparing for the future, gathering food during the summer to sustain them through the colder months. Likewise, we should be prepared for the future, both in terms of providing for our families and ensuring our readiness for eternity.

IV. Ants Teach Us About Perseverance

Ants display remarkable resilience and perseverance in the face of danger, disaster, and disturbances. They quickly recover and rebuild after their colonies are destroyed. We should adopt a similar attitude of perseverance in our own lives, never giving up despite challenges.

Conclusion

As we reflect on the lessons from ants, let us consider how we can apply these principles to our own lives. Are we performing our tasks with efficiency and purpose? Are we actively participating and supporting one another in our church community? Are we prepared for the future, both practically and spiritually? And finally, are we persevering through difficulties and remaining steadfast in our faith? May we learn from the wisdom of these small creatures and strive to live out these lessons in our daily lives.
