THE LEADER'S MINDSET

TEXT: JOHN 10:11, 1 CORINTHIANS 1:11

INTRODUCTION

A leader is a person that leads or directs. One who has the authority to direct or guide. According to Business Dictionary; a leader is a person that holds a dominant or superior position within his field, and is able to exercise a high degree of control. Mindset is a way of thinking, or a pattern of reasoning. Mindset also refers to the ideology, philosophy and concept of man both in behavior and thought.

Let's consider some mindset of true leaders:

1) Visionary: Matthew 4:19

A leader should have a vision that he/she pursues to achieve. A vision less leader is a guarantee for failure, pain and death - Proverbs 29:18. One of the visions of Jesus Christ for his disciples was to make them fishers of men, and he achieved that. Do not follow a man without vision.

2) A lover of God: Psalm 119:72, Psalm 25:5

The mindset of a successful leader is that he loves and follows God ardently. Just like every follower is a leader, so is every leader, a follower. Every leader follows something or somebody. A fulfilled leader follows God- Matthew 6:33.

3) Courage: Joshua 1:6-7

Courage is the ability to do things which one finds frightening. Mark Twain said that, courage is not the absence of fear, it is acting inspire of it. A leader like Joshua was told to be courageous to overcome and he applied it and won.

4) Leads with action: John 17:6-8

A leader should lead by living what he says. The leader that leads by showing examples remains the best leader. Jesus Christ practically did everything that he instructed his disciples to do.

5) No room for mediocrity: Philippians 3:12-14

Steady growth and improvement are the desires of a fulfilled leader. Knowing that, stagnant water stinks and whenever we stop learning, we gradually begin to die. Nobody follows or sticks around an unproductive leader. Sin and distractions can lead to mediocrity- check the life of Joseph in the Bible.

Summary: A leader that wants to be successful must serve sacrificially in addition to the above listed points.
