Laying On Of Hands

Summary: The hands of Jesus were always doing something, folding, lifting, healing, holding, reaching forth and being nailed to the cross. This sermon go into what He did and what He expects us to do with the hands He gave us.

Laying on of Hands
One of the main reasons we do missionary evangelist is that Jesus was and is the world’s greatest missionary evangelist. Years ago I knelt at
His feet and said I would follow Him. (seeing his feet) I was following man, wanting to be like Osborn...I was around powerful ministries, K.K. but none like Jesus. How do we keep going? He hold our hands.
I. Hands are spoken of so much in the Bible.
From the hand of man to the Hand of God. The hands are used in ministry. Acts of help etc.
a. the hands of Jesus can change lives.
1. I felt the hand on my shoulder in Vancouver in 1962 and it changed my life and ministry.
II. Let us look at some events with His hands.:
A. it brings peace
John 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. (KJV)
B. His hands bless.
Matt 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. (KJV)
C. brings healing.
Luke 4:40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. (KJV)
D. even in the midst of unbelief he brings healing.
Mark 6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he
laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. (KJV)
E. He give sight to the blind.
Mark 8:25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. (KJV)
1. South Africa blind woman was healed and I felt His hand on my shoulder.
F. He makes the crooked way straight:
Luke 13:13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she
was made straight, and glorified God. (KJV)
III. See His Hands on the cross. Stretched out, stretched to the whole world. To you and I. Hands of Love.
Can you see His hands today? If you do you will not resist.
A. The day I was saved I saw His hands in vision stretched out to me, saying “Come unto Me!”.
Working Hands
Acts 6:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. (KJV)
Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. (KJV)
- Much of our ministry is done with our hands, both spiritual and physical.
A. Early church laid hands on those they sent out.
IV. Ministers must lean to humble themselves in prayer.
Ezra 9:5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God, (KJV)
A. We do not kill sheep, now we sacrifice with praise and prayer.
1. intercessory prayer and raising of hands is sacrifice.
Ps 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. (KJV)
1 Tim 2:8 I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. (KJV)
1 Pet 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (KJV)
V. His Hands brings cleansing and sanctification.
John 13:9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only,
but also my hands and my head. (KJV)
VI. Preaching is the easy part, we must minister to the people.
A. Ministers take time to lay hands on your people in prayer after preaching.
2 Tim 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. (KJV)
VII. Let His Hand be on us as we lay our hands on our people.
Daniel 10:10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.

Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, (KJV)
Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (KJV)
IX. FOR PRAYER
1 Tim 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. (KJV)
