The six branches of the Lampstand are a representation of these six characteristics of the Holy Spirit. The “Spirit of Wisdom”, “Spirit of Understanding”, “Spirit of Counsel”, “Spirit of Might”, “Spirit of Knowledge”, & “Spirit of the Fear of the Lord”.

Luke 4:18 NLT The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free…

We will be dealing with the other 3 today.

I. Spirit of Might...

The American Heritage® Dictionary gives this definition of the word “might” - Strength or ability to do something.

Strong’s Hebrew dictionary says Hebrew Word—Phonetic Pronunciation: gheb-oo-raw’ means, valor, victory :- force, mastery, might, mighty (act, power), power, strength.

1 Chronicles 16:11 NIV Look to the LORD and His strength (might); seek His face always.

Look to the Lord & His Spirit of Might;

The only way to continually seek after God is through His Holy Spirit.

Psalm 73:26 NLT My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength (spirit of might) of my heart; He is mine forever.

Can we see how vital this relationship with the Holy Spirit is? When my health may fail & even my spirit grows weak, the strength & might of His Spirit will sustain me no matter what!

1 Samuel 30:6 NLT But David found strength in the LORD his God.

Where are you turning when you need renewed strength?

Psalm 28:7-8 NLT The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. The LORD gives his people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed king.

How many are realizing this morning how much you need this characteristic of the Holy Spirit?

II. Spirit of Knowledge…

Colossians 1:8-10 NLT He has told us about the love for others that the Holy Spirit has given you.

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

If you are seeing this, without a great relationship with the Holy Ghost your knowledge & all other characteristics of the Spirit will be lacking.

Exodus 31:3 NKJV And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship…

This is Old Testament stuff right here. If it was happening then how much more should it be happening now?

1 Corinthians 12:8 NKJV for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit…

We know Paul is talking about one of the gifts of the Holy Ghost right here. But is not the gifts part of the character of the Holy Spirit?

Ephesians 1:15-19 MSG I couldn’t stop thanking God for you—every time I prayed, I’d think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!

The Spirit of knowledge is definitely a characteristic we cannot afford not to develop as our relationship with the Spirit of God grows.

III. The Fear of the Lord…

Acts 9:31 NLT The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers.

Do you see that important fact here? They became stronger & they grew in numbers because they got an understanding of the Fear of the Lord!

2 Chronicles 19:9 NLT These were his instructions to them: “You must always act in the fear of the Lord, with faithfulness and an undivided heart.

Do we truly listen for what the Spirit of the Lord is saying with a true Fear of the Lord?

How does the thought of us missing or disobeying God make us feel?

Psalm 19:9 NKJV The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
