VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Authors: Credited generally to King Solomon before his character downfall/decline.

B. Date written: from 931 to 686 B.C.

C. Purpose: To give moral instruction

D. Main Theme: Fear of the LORD

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Knowledge is easy

"but knowledge is easy"

Knowledge or "daath" in Hebrew means:

1. knowledge

2. cunning

3. awares

Easy or "qalal" in Hebrew means:

1. to be light

2. swift, small, sharp

Knowledge (Webster's Dictionary) - a clear and certain perception of that which exists, or of truth and fact; the perception of the connection and agreement, or disagreement and repugnancy of our ideas.

We can have no knowledge of that which does not exist. God has a perfect knowledge of all his works. Human knowledge is very limited, and is mostly gained by observation and experience.

Understanding GOD's WORDS is the key that will unlock knowledge.

Proverbs 8:9 (Amplified Bible)

8:9 They are all plain to him who understands [and opens his heart], and right to those who find knowledge [and live by it].

Proverbs 17:24 (Amplified Bible)

17:24 A man of understanding sets skillful and godly Wisdom before his face, but the eyes of a [self-confident] fool are on the ends of the earth.

James 1:5 (Amplified Bible)

1:5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.

Illustration:

Thomas, the doubter

John 20:25 (Amplified Bible)

20:25 So the other disciples kept telling him, We have seen the Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see in His hands the marks made by the nails and put my finger into the nail prints, and put my hand into His side, I will never believe [it].

He lived his life doubting the LORD, he needs to see first then he will believe. But faith lifestyle says, believe first then you will see.

Hebrews 11:1 (Amplified Bible)

11:1 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

B. To him that understands

"unto him that understandeth"

Understand or "biyn" in Hebrew means:

1. to separate mentally

2. attend, consider, be cunning, diligently, direct, discern, eloquent, feel, inform, instruct, have intelligence, know, look well to, mark, perceive, be prudent, regard

Psalms 119:98-100 (Amplified Bible)

119:98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for [Your words] are ever before me.

119:99 I have better understanding and deeper insight than all my teachers, because Your testimonies are my meditation.

119:100 I understand more than the aged, because I keep Your precepts [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying them].

Human understanding is based on experience and observation while Divine wisdom is based on GOD's WORDS.

2 Timothy 3:15 (Amplified Bible)

3:15 And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].

Matthew 13:11-12 (Amplified Bible)

13:11 And He replied to them, To you it has been given to know the secrets and mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

13:12 For whoever has [spiritual knowledge], to him will more be given and he will be furnished richly so that he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

Our understanding of things in this world are different from the people of this world, it's much more deeper and has it's roots in the spiritual.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Mark 4:24-25 (Amplified Bible)

4:24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.
