Summary: Satan wants to steal, kill and destroy your life. If he can just let us continue to be ignorant in the know how when it comes to God, then half of his battle is already won. 2Co 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of

Knowing What Is Yours

Psalm 56:8-9

Ps 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

Mal 3:16

9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

I have entitled this today: Knowing What Is Yours

Psalm 56 was written by David when Saul was trying to kill him.

It is expressed in this Psalm, David’s terrible problem with Saul trying to kill him everyday; David was going through a daily battle.

David’s experiences, while far from his Father’s house and in exile among those that hated him.

Psalm 56:3

Ps 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

David did not deny the presence of fear, however, through the Holy Spirit, we see the antidote for fear, and all other problems for that matter, I will trust in thee.

David was not going to put his confidence in man, he put his trust in God and what His Word said.

God’s Word gives us constant occasion for praise.

Psalm 56:5

Ps 56:5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

This describes the constant pursuits and plots against David by Saul and his men.

Psalm 56:6

6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

Ps 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.

Our steps are ordered or established by the Lord.

David’s life was ordered or established by the Lord, and God was the One who had His protecting hand upon his life.

The enemy will try to lay a net for our steps but they are the ones who will be trapped in there own doings.

Ps 57:6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah.

Satan and his imps will try to dig a pit for you to fall into but they are the ones who will fall into their own traps.

Psalm 56:7

7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

This prayer sets itself against those who would set themselves against God.

Psalm 56:8

Ps 56:8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

The Holy Spirit, through David, is saying that despite David’s wonderings and his attempts to escape from Saul, God knew at all times exactly where he was.

The tears in the bottle proclaim the ancient custom that spoke of tremendous pain.

Whenever we, as believers, set out to carry out the will of God for our lives, Satan will do all that he can do to oppose those efforts.

When Satan comes against us in our walks with the Lord, we learn to have faith and place our trust exclusively in the Word of the Lord.

Psalm 56:9

9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

The phrase, “this I know”, is the most precious declaration of the perfect faith in God.

This I know, that God will never let me down.

This I know, there is no weapon formed against me that will prosper.

This I know, Jesus is the shelter from the storm.

I have entitled this today: Knowing What Is Yours

Here is the reason why:

Dream 3-4-09

I dreamed that I was observing a young child that had a suitcase of valuables in it. A thief wanted the contents of it. The thief told the child to drop the suitcase. The child instead walked toward him. The child was on some type of stage and there were people around on this stage. The child asked the people around for help. Before the thief could pull out his weapon, he was apprehended. The child let the thief open the suitcase. To the thief, it was junk so he shut it. The young child walked over to the suitcase and he opened it. I saw at first a greenish light with a glow around it, I was thinking it was money. I noticed a greenish whitish glow, the suitcase looked like it was full of checkbooks. It was his treasure.

Interpretation

The last 2 weeks we have talked about knowing your call and knowing how to use your gifts.

That is the point I believe God wants us to get: knowing what is ours.

According to John 10:10

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
