Keys to Knowing God’s Will
Your will be done
The Lord’s Prayer has an incredible section to it; where we pray for God’s will to be done but so we really know what were asking for?
How do we know God’s will?
I could preach a whole series of messages on this subject but for right now let’s just do a quick thumbnail of how to know God’s will.
1. Pray for Guidance
God gave us the Holy Spirit for a reason, to help us have the strength and guidance to live life. Our problem is that we do not follow the guidance or we try to do things on our own. I firmly believe the main reason that many Christians do not know the will of God is because they simply do not know how to pray through anymore. We don’t pray long enough, fervent enough or hard enough for God to breakthrough.
2. Search the Scriptures
God never guides in a way that contradicts His Word. The Bible is the ultimate handbook for living and the answers to life’s greatest questions are already there. If you really want to know God’s will for your life, ask for guidance and search His Word.
3. Don’t rush
God works on his timetable not yours and He will reveal His will in His time. This means that sometimes we will have to wait for God to show us His will. I hate waiting. I think that waiting is a waste of time because why wait when you could be doing something else. The church has lost the skill of waiting on God, that we place our trust in Him to answer and wait until He does. Many times we have lost patience just before God opens His floodgates.
