Knock, Knock. Who's There?

1. THE MEN OF THE AREA

(a) Their aim

"They called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them". Homosexual rape. One of the fastest-growing crimes in England.

(b) Their argument

"This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge". ’How dare you judge us! How dare you call our lifestyle wicked!’ Still the argument used by sodomite lobby groups today.

(c) Their aggression

"Now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door". Banging on the door, trying to break it down. We are on the inside – what are we going to do? Let them come in? No way. Hold the door shut! Barricade the door!

2. THE MIGHT OF THE ANGELS

(a) They had power over the Sodomites

"They smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness".

(b) They gave protection from the Sodomites

"The men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door".

Power and protection are given to every Christian who will take their stand against this abomination.

3. THE MERCY OF THE ALMIGHTY

(a) Mercy shown to the father

"The LORD being merciful unto him".

(b) Mercy shown to the family

"His wife, and...his two daughters".

We are reminded of Acts 16:31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house".

4. THE MAGNITUDE OF THE ANNIHILATION

(a) The total annihilation of a region

Even the vegetation was burned up! The fire mentioned here is the fire of hell - "brimstone and fire". Make sure you don’t end up in hell with the homosexuals!

Revelation 21:8 "Whoremongers...shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone".

(b) The tragic annihilation of a relation

The motive for this sermon is a desire that those of us who are saved would pray for homosexuals. According to 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 some members of the Corinthian church were former sodomites. Christ had washed them clean by His blood. He can do the same today.

Jesus paid it all,

All to Him I owe;

Sin had left a crimson stain,

He washed it white as snow.
