Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
We are called to be in fellowship with God and others, building a spiritual house together with Jesus as the master builder.
Today, we're talking about how we're all wired for connection and relationships. We're not meant to do life solo, we're built for community. Let's pray for a clear vision of what real friendship looks like and the guts to grow in our relationships.
Think about a Lego set. Each piece, on its own, is pretty cool, right? But when you start connecting them, you can build something amazing. That's us. We're like those Lego pieces.
We're not meant to do life solo, we're built for community.
In the Bible, 1 Peter 2:4-5 says that when we come to Jesus, we're like living stones being built into a spiritual house. Our connection with God is the baseplate, and our connections with others are the bricks we build on top of that. We're better together, just like those Lego pieces.
Jesus himself talked about building his church in Matthew 16:18. He said that not even the gates of hell will overcome it. Jesus is the master builder, and he's using us, his Lego pieces, to build his church.
We can trust God's plan for our lives and for the church. He knows us better than we know ourselves and has put us exactly where he wants us to be. We might not always get why, but we can trust that he's working everything out for our good.
Trusting others can be tough, especially when we've been hurt before. But we were made for community. The world tells us to look out for number one, but Jesus calls us to love and serve each other. We're called to go far together, not fast alone.
In our friendships, we share a common bond in Christ. It's all about give and take. We need to be ready to give and receive forgiveness, help, and support. What can you do today to strengthen your friendships and connect with others? Let's make it a goal this week to spend more time building relationships and kingdom connections.
1. How can we better serve one another in our community?
2. What does it mean to you to be a 'living stone' in the spiritual house?
3. Share a time when you felt truly connected in fellowship.
4. How can we trust God more in our relationships?
