KEYS TO ATTRACTING DIVINE FAVOUR

INTRODUCTION:
Divine favour is the supernatural grace and kindness of God that positions an individual for exceptional opportunities, open doors, and blessings beyond human effort. It is what separates a person from the crowd and causes them to enjoy privileges they didn’t labour for. Favour brings accelerated results and makes difficult situations turn around for good.
In a world filled with competition and limitations, divine favour grants access to what others may be denied. It was favour that brought Esther before the king, Joseph before Pharaoh, and David into the palace. As believers, we are not meant to struggle endlessly when God’s favour is available. However, favour is not random—it can be attracted by cultivating specific spiritual attitudes and lifestyle principles.
Today’s teaching will unveil scriptural keys to attracting divine favour, so that your life can be a magnet for God's blessings, breakthroughs, and promotion.
1. WALK IN LOVE AND TRUTH
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart” (Proverbs 3:3)
a) Show consistent kindness to others (Micah 6:8): When you are merciful and compassionate, you reflect the heart of God, which draws His favour upon your life.
b) Be honest and upright in all your dealings (Psalm 15:1-2): Integrity creates trust with God and men, opening doors for divine intervention.
c) Keep your heart free from malice and deceit (1 Peter 2:1-2): Favour cannot flow in a heart filled with hypocrisy and bitterness.
d) Let your words and actions align with God’s truth (John 17:17): God honours those who live according to His Word, even when it's unpopular.
Biblical Example: Joseph remained truthful and merciful even in prison, and God gave him favour with the keeper of the prison (Genesis 39:21).
2. CULTIVATE HUMILITY
“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” (James 4:6)
a) Submit yourself fully to God (1 Peter 5:6): Humility positions you to receive what only God can give—His grace and favour.
b) Honour others above yourself (Philippians 2:3): Favour flows where honour is present; pride repels what humility attracts.
c) Be teachable and correctable (Proverbs 9:9): A humble spirit learns from correction, which leads to growth and promotion.
d) Avoid self-promotion and boasting (Proverbs 27:2): Let God and others recognise and announce your value in due time.
Biblical Example: Daniel showed humility in Babylon, and God brought him into favour with the prince of the eunuchs (Daniel 1:9).
3. BE OBEDIENT TO GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19)
a) Obey promptly and completely (Genesis 12:1-4): Delayed or partial obedience can hinder the flow of divine favour.
b) Obey even when it’s inconvenient (Luke 5:4-6): Sometimes obedience requires sacrifice, but it leads to abundant blessings.
c) Seek God's guidance in every decision (Proverbs 3:5-6): Divine direction attracts divine provision and favour.
d) Live by God’s principles consistently (Deuteronomy 28:1-2): Consistent obedience triggers sustained favour.
Biblical Example: Because of Abraham’s obedience, God blessed him and made him a channel of favour to all nations (Genesis 22:16-18).
4. MAINTAIN A LIFESTYLE OF THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
a) Thank God even in trials (Habakkuk 3:17-18): Favour rests on those who worship God regardless of circumstances.
b) Praise brings divine attention (Psalm 22:3): God inhabits the praises of His people and responds with favour.
c) A grateful heart invites more blessings (Luke 17:15-19): Thankfulness causes God to complete what He started.
d) Use praise as a weapon against discouragement (Isaiah 61:3): Joyful praise keeps your spirit light and open to divine visitation.
Biblical Example: Paul and Silas praised God in prison, and divine favour broke open the prison doors (Acts 16:25-26).
5. PRAY FOR FAVOUR AND DIVINE CONNECTIONS
“Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come” (Psalm 102:13)
a) Ask God for favour daily (Psalm 5:12): Favour can be prayed into your life; don’t assume it will happen by chance.
b) Pray for favour before men and institutions (Nehemiah 1:11): Like Nehemiah, ask for favour before those in authority.
c) Declare favour over your life with faith (Job 22:28): Your words frame your destiny and release favour into your atmosphere.
d) Seek divine relationships that bring access (Proverbs 18:24): God often sends favour through people He has positioned to help you.
Biblical Example: Esther fasted and prayed before appearing before the king, and divine favour gave her access and victory (Esther 5:1-3).
CONCLUSION:
Divine favour is a gift, but it is not random. It is attracted by how we live, how we relate with others, and how we walk with God. Love, integrity, humility, obedience, praise, and prayer create an atmosphere where favour thrives. You don’t have to struggle when the favour of God is upon you. Favour will open doors no man can shut, and bring acceleration to your destiny.
