To inspire and encourage believers to answer God's call to preach His Word with courage, commitment, and wisdom, even in the face of a world that may not always want to hear the truth.

Introduction

Good morning, family of God! Today, we're going to dig into a rich passage from 2 Timothy, one that speaks to the heart of every believer, but especially to those who've felt that call to preach and share God's Word. We're talking about the call to preach, the courage to preach, and the commitment to preach.

I'd like to kick off with a quote from A.W. Tozer, a deeply respected Christian author and pastor. He said, "God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible—what a pity that we plan only the things that we can do by ourselves." Let's keep that in mind as we dive into our Scripture today.

The Call to Preach

In the opening verse of our passage, Paul charges Timothy in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom. This is not a casual request or a suggestion. It is a solemn, earnest charge, a command given with the utmost seriousness. This is the call to preach. It is a divine summons, a sacred commission. It is not a career choice or a personal preference. It is a divine mandate, a holy obligation. It is not something we choose for ourselves. It is something God chooses for us.

The call to preach is not a light matter. It is a heavy responsibility. It is not a part-time job. It is a full-time commitment. It is not a hobby or a pastime. It is a life's work, a life's mission. It is not about gaining popularity or building a personal brand. It is about proclaiming the truth of God's Word, about declaring the gospel of Christ, about making disciples of all nations.

The call to preach is not a human initiative. It is a divine intervention. It is not about our abilities or our qualifications. It is about God's power and God's grace. It is not about our plans or our strategies. It is about God's purposes and God's plans. It is not about our comfort or our convenience. It is about God's glory and God's kingdom.

The call to preach is a lifelong commitment. It is not a seasonal activity. It is a perennial duty. It is not a sporadic endeavor. It is a consistent effort. It is not an occasional undertaking. It is a regular responsibility.

The call to preach is a practical application. It is not a speculative discourse. It is a substantive dialogue. It is not a philosophical debate. It is a pastoral dialogue. It is not a rhetorical performance. It is a relational conversation. It is a specific word. It is not a vague idea. It is a clear instruction. It is not a general concept. It is a particular command. It is not a broad principle. It is a precise precept.

The call to preach demands an active response. It is not a complacent acceptance. It is a courageous action. It is not a reluctant compliance. It is a resolute commitment. It is not a hesitant agreement. It is a hearty affirmation.
