Keep On Serving Jesus

“Keep On Serving Jesus” Text: Josh 24:15

Intro:

3 years ago Carole, Kyle and I arrived here in Northfield to be your pastors. It truly has been a wonderful time. You have treated us so lovingly and each of you has found a very special place in our hearts. And so It is with mixed feelings that I preach this message today. Because we must be obedient to the Lord, and must go to where HE leads us, and when he leads us . We want to do His will in our lives. The old hymn says “Where He Leads me I will follow”, Where He leads me I will follow, where he leads me I will follow, I’ll go with Him, with Him all the way”.

Carole, Kyle and I will keep on serving Jesus, where we will be .we have made that decision long ago. That no matter what , or where ,we will serve the Lord.

Our Prayer for you each individually and as a church please KEEP serving Jesus.

1. By Encouraging Each other.(

Be ye encouragers one of another

Encouarge each other to keep your eyes on Jesus. To get up and keep on going. When one falls don’t leave them there all alone, and confused, help them up and encourage them in Jesus , to stick to their decision that no matter what I will keep on serving Jesus. When we encourage each other even the tough times are easier to go through.

So keep on encouraging each other.

2. BY Loving and Respecting Each other.( 1Jn 3:1, John 15:12,17.

Keep on serving and living for Jesus by continuing to make a conscious effort of loving each other, and loving those who will come into the church family.

This is not a suggestion but a commandment. Friends weather we have French, English, Colored, Indians, whites, in the church treat each one with the same love and respect that Jesus would.

ILL: Claude Brooks a black Brother from Guyana, We would travel together on the subway, when he reached his stop. he would hug me and say good ninght my brother. One lady asked me is he really your brother? I said yes, you see he was born at midnight and i was born during the day. The color has been washed away in the blood.

3. By Reaching out. (Matt 22:9.

Keep serving Jesus by Reaching out in His Name. Keep on blessing the surrounding community in any way possible. Food baskets, cloths, ministering in the seniors homes. These are all ways that we have to reach out in Jesus’ Name. After we have done these things then will we have “permission” to invite them in. and they will respond because they have Seen His Love in action. We must keep in mind we are His hands and feet.

4. By Looking for the Lord( 1Thess 4:16-18. Keep on serving Jesus by looking for Him. In any time know we ill be called to our heavenly home. Don’t get weary in well doing. But be encouraged that the coming of the Lord is coming quick. But be ready and anxiously waiting. The Bible tells us that we don’t know when He will come again but that He will come and come as a thief in the night. My prayer is that each one of you will be found ready and waiting for His return.

Concl: Beloved it has been a blessed time spent here in Northfield. God has been faithful. But we all must be like Joshua and make a decision as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Please Continue to serve Jesus until the day He calls us home by way of the grave or the rapture. For I as a pastor want to see you all in Glory. So make that decision As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. in every circumstance I will not give up .
