Summary: How to act as Christians.
JUST WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Paul s appeal to believers for unity in the church. Don’t compromise.
Phil. 3; 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
16Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
17Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
(1) Keep your heart and mind on him.
Ver.16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Get as close to Christ as you can.
Stay in the right frame of mind.
Remember God will reveal all.
(2) We are under the same laws of God.
Ver.17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
We have made it this far don’t stop now.
We all walk by the same rules.
Our mind should be on the same things.
We have the same God.
He knows our hearts and souls.
(3) We must have unity
Ver. 18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Workers together for Christ.
Followers of Christ not man.
Weep over their sins.
Weep because they are enemies of the cross.
Come on be examples of our Lord.
(4) They have the wrong appetite.
Ver. 19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
They have and end ( destruction)
Their God is food money and power
Their mind and heart are on earthly things
Not God.
They all look out for their self
(5) Expectations in the right place.
Ver. 20For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
We talk teach and look to heaven
We see our saviour in the new
We look the same for his coming.
Our redeemer judge and rewarded
(6) Time for a change..
Ver. 21Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Sin filled body for a glorious body
Knowing he has all things in subjection.
A body like his
He is able to subdue all things.
For himself to glory the father.
