Summary: Just waiting, is what Judah is doing, waiting for a deliverer. He would not come until 700 years later, so they just wait.
“Just Waiting” Isaiah 9:6-7
1. Isaiah the Prophet Gods spoke person says a few things
• The text today Isaiah the Prophet gave God words to several Kings during a time of crisis
• Judah was under threat by foreign powers
• Isaiah the spokesperson for God was to give words of hope to strengthen the people
• Isaiah did not say God was going to bring more horses and chariots or spears swords
•
2. The people of Judah wanted a sign. Judah desired a sign that God would help
• There sign will come in the form of a baby
• 14Therefore the Lord himself will give youC a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, andD will call him Immanuel.
• Note There help did not come until another 700 years” Note there Just Waiting”
3. Isaiah basically says One Day Judah your wait will be over
• One Day Judah a young woman will bear a son named Emanuel {God is with Us)
• One day Judah, this will be Given Isaiah 9:6A son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
• One day Judah he will be called Wonderful Counselor, referring to a King as our therapist
He will be called Mighty God, Mighty God. His divine power as a warrior is stressed He is the one who sits down in the seat of authority
• He will be known as Everlasting Father, . He will be an enduring; compassionate provider and protector (cf. 40:9-11).
• He was and is and One Day is to come the Prince of Peace. His rule will bring wholeness and well-being to individuals and to society7Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.
4. Judah was Just waiting, but One Day “Good News” 700 years later the Prophecy came to pass
• In a barn in Bethlehem
• Angels announced to Shepherds “To you born this day in the city of David, a Savior, who is the Messiah Luke 2:11-12
• The unexpected happened The King came born in a barn not in a Palace, He wore carpenters aprons not royal robes,
• The King preached about loving their enemies instead attacking the oppressors and pray for those who had persecuted them.
• This King would rule from a throne by dying on a cross to conquer death and hell and the grave
5. One Day, Good News The Waiting will be over for us as well.
• Judah had been waiting for 700 years and a son was born
• One day Christmas will come Children, and the wait will be over
• One day, “The people walking in darkness will see a great light” "In him was life, and the life was the light of all people, Jesus himself would say, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life"
• One Day there will be “Joy to the world” As he taught his disciples, he told them, "I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete" (John 15:11). The joy of Christmas is a joy that comes from knowing that no matter what our circumstances might be, God is with us.
• One day born in the city of David came our Wonderful Counselor, Our Mighty God, Our Everlasting Father, and Our Prince of peace,
•
6. In conclusion One Day the Greatest Gift for all humanity is given Paul says it this way This is your Christmas
• "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all." -- "renouncing impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly, while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:11-13).
• In other words, Paul says, another Christmas is coming, and it's never too early to get ready!
