Jump-Starting Your Faith
How To Jump-Start Your Faith In The Midst Of Difficulties.
Romans 12: 1-2
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercies, to present your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your logical act of worship.
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you would be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing perfect will.
Introduction:
-- How long have you been a Christian?
-- Have you been discouraged, disappointed, or depressed lately?
-- Personal experience
-- Single Parents? Been laid off? Depressed?
-- Paradigm shift, new schema, new perspective
---- Give a person a new paradigm, a new schema, a new perspective…
---- And you would change that person’s life
1. View God’s Mercies
-- Therefore! – Where’s the premise?
---- The Need for Justification (Rom.1 – 3:20)
Romans 3:23 says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory God.”
---- And because you have sinned, you are going to hell. Romans 6:23 says: For the wages of sinned is death.
---- Because of God’s mercies, He saw the need for justification -- the need for Him to save you from your eternal predicament.
---- The Provision of Justification (Rom 3:21- 4:25)
------ You and I matter to God. In God’s eyes, because of His great mercies and love, you are very important. God gave His Son to pay for your sins so that you and I can be declared right before God.
---- The Results of Justification (Rom 5:1 – 8:39)
---- The Sovereignty of God (Rom 9 –11)
1. View God’s Mercies
-- Our biggest problem is NOT:
---- Our employment or financial needs
---- Our physical or emotional needs
---- Our relationship with our in-laws, our boss, our lover…
---- Our health
-- Our biggest problem is sin!
2. Present Your Bodies
-- Living as opposed to dead sacrifice
-- Living as in a dynamic relationship
----Set-apart unto God
-- As a logical act of worship
3. Be Transformed
-- Do not conform yourself to the patterns of this world
-- Transformed versus informed
-- Renew your mind
