Making the decision to go from where we presently are spiritually to a new level in Jesus...the other side!

Introduction

Today, I believe Jesus is commanding each one of us to go to a new level in our spiritual journey. He is saying, "Let us go to the other side." But what does this "other side" mean for each of us? It could be different for everyone, but it encompasses areas such as our prayer life, openness to God's leading, battling against sin, discipline in studying the Word, approach to worship, and overall walk with the Lord. The other side may look different for each of us, but Jesus is not merely suggesting it; He is commanding it as His plan for us.

I. What do I need to leave behind? (Mark 4:36)

In order to go to the other side, we must be willing to forsake certain things. Just as the disciples left the crowd behind, we too must leave behind anything that hinders our spiritual growth. This could include dealing with a specific sin issue, reevaluating our schedule to prioritize God, or even distancing ourselves from someone who hinders our progress. Jesus said that if we want to follow Him, we must deny ourselves and take up our cross.

II. What do I need to take with me? (Mark 4:36)

As the disciples took Jesus just as He was, we must also take Him with us on this journey. We must accept Jesus for who He truly is, without trying to mold Him into our own image. This means embracing His hatred for sin, His unconditional love for all people, His forgiveness, and His passion for helping those in need. We should not settle for a distorted version of Jesus that allows sin or holds grudges. When we go where Jesus wants us to go, we take Him just as He is.

III. What impact will I make? (Mark 4:36)

When we make the choice to go to the other side with Jesus, we will have an impact on others. Just as other boats followed the disciples, people will be watching us as we pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus. They will observe how we handle our problems and how we respond to persecution. Our actions can inspire others to follow Jesus and experience the transformation He brings.

Conclusion

Will you make the decision to go to the other side spiritually? If so, consider these questions: What do you need to forsake? What do you need to take with you? And what impact will you make on those around you? Remember, going to the other side may require sacrifice, but it is worth it. Let us embrace Jesus just as He is and allow Him to lead us to new levels in our spiritual journey.
