There are several similarities between Joseph and Jesus.
So Joseph is said to be "a picture of Christ."
First, let's look at Joseph:
Genesis 37
— Beloved of the his father
— Hated/rejected by his brethren (for his words)
— A shepherd
— Predictions of power
— Mocked
— Brethren plotted to kill him
— Thrown into a pit and raised out
— Sold for the price of a slave
— Went into Egypt
Genesis 39
— Tempted and didn’t sin (tempted by Potiphar 's wife)
— Falsely accused (by Potiphar's wife)
Genesis 41
— Exalted to power
— Gentile bride
— At the age of 30 entered into service (Pharaoh's service)
Genesis 42
— The salvation of his brethren and the world
Joseph saved his brethren and the world from physical death during the famine.
Genesis 45
— Forgave the brothers (reconciled)
— Brothers did nothing to deserve forgiveness
— Every knee shall bow:
