JOB 1:13-22 JOB'S REFLECTION

JOB had:- 7sons, 3daughters- 7000 sheep, 3000camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 she asses,

and a very great household.

13 And there was a day - IN ONE DAY HE LOST:-

HIS FLOCKS 14 The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away;

16 The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them;

17 The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away

HIS FAMILY 18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: 19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

HIS FORTUNE - and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. Servants taken also.

20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

JOB'S REACTION

1. JOB Looked BACKWARD = (Naked came I out of my mother's womb)

HE REMEMBERED :-

HIS BIRTH - Naked came I out of my mother’s womb

BIG TOM - YOUR GOING OUT THE SAME WAY YOU CAME IN

HIS BACKGROUND - Job remembered where he came from.

Where we are right now we haven’t always been.

What we have right now we haven’t always had!

1 Sam 15:16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on. 17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

HIS BLESSINGS - the LORD gave

I. The SOURCE Of BLESSING - the LORD gave

II. The SIZE Of BLESSING - the LORD gave EVERYTHING.

There was NOTHING Job Possessed that GOD hadn't GIVEN.

III. The SOVEREIGNTY Of BLESSING -

GOD HAS THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT HE WILLS WITH HIS OWN.

IV. The SURRENDER Of BLESSING - Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

2. JOB Looked FORWARD = (Naked shall I return thither)-

Job didn’t have a thing when He Arrived. He Wouldn't take a thing with him, when gone.

POSSESSIONS ARE FLEETING - Proverbs 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

PEOPLE ARE FLEETING - 1Chron 29:15 For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

POPULARITY IS FLEETING - Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

PRAISE IS FLEETING - Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

John 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

ONLY ONE LIFE WILL SOON BE PASSED, ONLY WHAT'S DONE FOR JESUS WILL LAST.

3. JOB Looked UPWARD = (The Lord Gave..)

What I am, He made me. What I got, He gave me,

Where I come from He brought me, What I know, He taught me!

JOB 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

(a) WHETHER GIFT: - "The Lord gave."

LIFE. SALVATION. FAMILY. OR FRIENDS.

(b) WHETHER GRIEF: -"And the Lord hath taken away."

(c) WHETHER GRACE: - 1 Cors 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

(d) OR GLORY: - "Blessed be the name of the Lord."
