Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people restored? [Because Zion no longer enjoyed the presence of the Great Physician!]

A. Author: Apostle Matthew

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Matthew 14:14 (Amplified Bible)

When He went ashore and saw a great throng of people, He had compassion (pity and deep sympathy) for them and cured their sick.

Matthew 14:14 (King James Version)

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

A. JESUS went forth and saw the multitude

"When He went ashore and saw a great throng of people

Matthew 9:36 (Amplified Bible)

When He saw the throngs, He was moved with pity and sympathy for them, because they were bewildered (harassed and distressed and dejected and helpless), like sheep without a shepherd.

Zechariah 10:2 (Amplified Bible)

For the teraphim (household idols) have spoken vanity (emptiness, falsity, and futility) and the diviners have seen a lie and the dreamers have told false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people go their way like sheep; they are afflicted and hurt because there is no shepherd.

To the LORD JESUS CHRIST's eyes, they were sheep that don't have a shepherd.

Multitude means A great number, indefinitely. A crowd or throng; the populace; applied to the populace when assembled in great numbers, and to the mass of men without reference to an assemblage.

B. JESUS was moved with compassion toward them and healed them.

"He had compassion (pity and deep sympathy) for them and cured their sick"

JESUS will always be moved with compassion, and cannot tolerate sicknessa and diseases even in multitudes that are not His sheep.

Hebrews 5:2 (Amplified Bible)

He is able to exercise gentleness and forbearance toward the ignorant and erring, since he himself also is liable to moral weakness and physical infirmity.

Hebrews 4:15 (Amplified Bible)

For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.

Hebrews 2:17 (Amplified Bible)

So it is evident that it was essential that He be made like His brethren in every respect, in order that He might become a merciful (sympathetic) and faithful High Priest in the things related to God, to make atonement and propitiation for the people’s sins.

Luke 7:13 (Amplified Bible)

And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, Do not weep.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is full of compassion and compassion is His motivation to move with us and within us.

Compassion or "splagchnizomai" in Greek meaning:

1. to have the bowels yearn

2. feel sympathy

3. to pity

4. to be moved with compassion

The LORD JESUS CHRIST faith in this earth works with His actions. JESUS is showing His faith through His actions that's why He can heal, and will always will heal for He is Jehovah Rapha. Opposite to the man who is a hypocrite as described in James 2:16

James 2:16 (Amplified Bible)

And one of you says to him, Good-bye! Keep [yourself] warm and well fed, without giving him the necessities for the body, what good does that do?
