Jesus wants All of Me. Luke 14:25-33

1. Being Disciple means you love

• You love God and the things of God like, prayer to God, Reading about God, attending The Church of God

1 John 5: 3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world.

• John says 15"If you love me, you will obey what I command. We love the commands of God

• Jesus says to the disciples Us : `Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.E 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

2. Being a Disciple is taking up the cross

• Disciples must endure sufferings in order to achieve the goal

• Jesus endured the cross, humiliation, spear, blood, great suffering, and He endured death but achieved resurrection

• The cross is loneliness Alan Carr said, “Not all believers are cross bearers! It is possible to be saved and to leave your cross unborn. You do this by living a "nominal" Christian life. You go to church, you claim Jesus as Savior, yet your Christian walk goes no deeper. It is a surface thing in your life. But, when you decide to go all out for Jesus, you can expect to face the same level of satanic opposition that Jesus faced while here on earth. Are you bearing your cross for Christ this morning?

3. Discipleship follows Jesus not the world nor the things of the world. If were a disciple:

• We walk as He walked 23Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

• We speak as He spoke Gracious (Lk 4:22) 22All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips, spirit and life (Jn 6:63) . The words I have spoken to you are spiritE and they are life., eternal life (Jn 6:68),

• We do as He did : 5The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosyB are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.

• We love as He Loved Jesus is the good shepherd who laid his life sown for the sheep

4. As our Text says we count the cost of discipleship

• How much am I willing to give Him, a portion, a Piece of me, or am I willing to given all of me?

• Everything is put on the altar of sacrifice. Jesus said, according to Mark 35For whoever wants to save his lifeC will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? 37Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 38

• The price is extreme but the benefits are amazing. Forgiveness, eternal home, crowns us with an eternal crown of life, He renews youth like an eagle and we will run and not faint.

5. Salvation cost us nothing but discipleship cost us everything If any of you who does not give up everything he cannot be my disciple.

• Rick Warren states: “You were created to be like Jesus. This is your destiny. From the very beginning, God’s plan was to create human beings to reflect His image. God announced his intention at Creation: “Then God said, “let us make mankind in our image and likeness.”

• Billy Graham “To be a disciple is to be committed to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and committed to following Him every day. To be a disciple is also to be disciplined in our bodies, minds, and souls.”

• Detrick Bonhoeffer “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die. It may be a death like that of the first disciples who had to leave home and work to follow him, or it may be a death like Luther’s, who had to leave the monastery and go out into the world.

Children Time Image of House Under Construction

1. The house is not finished

• maybe ran out of money,

• ran out of time,

• maybe its just not completed

2. How can we make sure the house gets finished?

• Make sure we have enough materials,

• make sure we have enough money

3. In our Christian life we to need to make sure we have what we need to get the job done as a flowerer of Jesus .

• we have to “carry the cross” to be disciples, which means that we have to be willing to sacrifice;
