INTRODUCTION:

The New Covenant, established through Jesus Christ, is the divine agreement that grants believers access to God’s grace, mercy, and blessings. Unlike the Old Covenant, which was based on the law and required continual sacrifices, the New Covenant is founded on the perfect sacrifice of Christ, giving all who believe direct communion with God.

Jesus, as the Mediator of this New Covenant, bridges the gap between humanity and God, offering reconciliation, forgiveness, and the assurance of divine promises. This access is not limited by human effort or worthiness but is freely granted through faith in Him.

Understanding Jesus as our Mediator empowers believers to boldly approach God, claim His mercy, and live in the fullness of His promises. It assures us that no sin, failure, or circumstance can prevent us from experiencing God’s transformative power.

1. JESUS PROVIDES ACCESS TO GOD’S GRACE

Through Christ, believers can approach God confidently, knowing they are accepted despite imperfections.

a) Boldness to Approach (Hebrews 4:16):  Jesus opens the door to God’s throne of grace, allowing believers to receive mercy and help in every time of need.

b) Assurance of Forgiveness (1 John 1:9):  By His mediation, every sincere confession is met with forgiveness, cleansing, and restoration.

c) Transformation by Grace (Romans 12:2):  Access to God’s grace brings renewal of mind and transformation of character.

d) Unmerited Favor (Ephesians 2:8-9):  Grace through Jesus is a gift, not earned by works, demonstrating God’s love and mercy.

Biblical Example: The thief on the cross, who trusted Jesus in his final moments, received forgiveness and eternal life, illustrating direct access to grace through Christ (Luke 23:42-43).

2. JESUS RECONCILES BELIEVERS TO GOD

Jesus, as Mediator, restores the broken relationship between humanity and God, bringing peace and intimacy.

a) Removal of Barriers (Colossians 1:19-20):  Christ’s sacrifice eliminates the separation caused by sin, allowing believers to enjoy fellowship with God.

b) Peace with God (Romans 5:1):  Mediation ensures reconciliation and spiritual harmony for every believer.

c) Access to God’s Presence (Hebrews 10:19-22):  Jesus’ mediation gives confidence to enter God’s presence without fear or condemnation.

d) Restoration of Relationship (2 Corinthians 5:18):  Through Christ, believers are adopted as God’s children, enjoying intimacy and divine guidance.

Biblical Example: Zacchaeus, a tax collector, experienced reconciliation with God through his encounter with Jesus, leading to restoration and blessing (Luke 19:1-10).

3. JESUS GUARANTEES THE FULFILMENT OF GOD’S PROMISES

Through the New Covenant, believers receive the assurance that God’s promises are secure and unchangeable.

a) Better Promises (Hebrews 8:6):  The covenant of Christ surpasses the Old Covenant, offering eternal hope, salvation, and spiritual inheritance.

b) Security in Christ (2 Peter 1:4):  Believers are heirs of divine promises that cannot fail or be revoked.

c) Confidence in Prayer (Ephesians 3:12):  Through the Mediator, prayers are effective and received by God according to His perfect will.

d) Eternal Rewards (Hebrews 9:15):  Jesus’ mediation guarantees redemption from sin and the reception of promised eternal life.

Biblical Example: Abraham received the fulfilment of God’s promises through faith, anticipating the ultimate mediation of Christ (Genesis 22:15-18; Galatians 3:16).

4. JESUS EMPOWERS BELIEVERS TO LIVE IN VICTORY

Access to God’s grace and promises transforms believers to live in spiritual victory and effectiveness.

a) Strength to Overcome (Philippians 4:13):  Mediation equips believers with the ability to overcome trials through divine strength.

b) Guidance in Decision-Making (James 1:5):  Access to God’s wisdom ensures believers make choices aligned with His will.

c) Spiritual Authority (Luke 10:19):  Through Christ, believers operate in authority over the enemy and experience victory in life’s battles.

d) Fulfilled Purpose (Ephesians 2:10):  Believers are empowered to accomplish God’s plans and leave a lasting impact for His kingdom.

Biblical Example: Paul, empowered through Christ’s mediation, endured imprisonment, persecution, and opposition while fulfilling his apostolic mission (Acts 20:24).

CONCLUSION:

Jesus, as the Mediator of the New Covenant, provides believers direct access to God’s grace, forgiveness, and promises. Through Him, every believer can approach God with confidence, live in reconciliation, and experience transformation.

Believers are encouraged to embrace the New Covenant fully, trust in Jesus’ intercession, and operate in the abundant life, power, and victory He has provided. Living under His mediation ensures spiritual growth, fulfilment of God’s promises, and eternal hope.

PRAYER POINTS:
