As water is important to human life and living, so is prayer to a spiritual soul. Again, when you follow the pattern of the Master-Jesus Christ, you shall make an impact in this generation. You will save your life,church,family,business and nation. Remember,when the disciples were thirsty of the Master’s footsteps and success in the ministry, they said to Him,
“ Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1)
In the ministry of prayer, Jesus is the good teacher. The Lord’s teaching is the best. It is genuine and unique. Understanding how to ask and receive is possible through the Master’s teaching. When a man teaches you, he will teach the natural while God teaches the Supernatural through the power of the Holy Spirit. He goes beyond. His teaching transforms, inspires, regenerates and gives strength for an action. Only the Lord can teach you for nobody is above teaching.
‘O, Lord, teach us for your teaching makes the difference!
Walking according to the Master’s teaching brings an answer. His Word teaches on intercession, patience, endurance, joy, meekness, holiness, love, waiting patiently upon Him and other things.
God knows how to teach. He taught our “first parents” at the beautiful garden of Eden. He taught “Abraham” how to be faithful; “Enoch”, how to walk with Him. “Noah”, how to build an ark; “Samuel”, the life of devotion. He taught “Solomon” wisdom; “Moses”-how to be meek; “Elijah” on how to be bold. “Elisha and Ruth”-how to be good disciples. He taught “David” how to conquer the giants; “Daniel”-how to intercede. He taught “Joseph” on the life of integrity. “Job”-patience and “Jeremiah” –how to weep for the Land. He taught “Obadiah” how to fear Him greatly and taught “Mary”-how to sit patiently at His feet to listen to His Word. He is a good teacher. Because Jesus Christ is interested in you and your ministry of prayer. He teaches the best.
The disciples saw Jesus Christ performing miracles, raising the dead, doing the incredibles, praying fervently and walking in the realm of the supernatural. One day, they requested that He should teach them. I can hear them say, yes! It is true that we have sat under different tutors,doctors,teachers,professors and ambassadors but “Lord” we have discovered that your ways are quite different and best. You receive an answer whenever you pray.
Please, “teach us!”
The disciples did not say, “Lord, teach us how to pray” rather “Lord, teach us to pray”. They wanted to pray, not to be taught about prayer. This means, they really loved to be involved in the spiritual exercise. The Word of God says;
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6)
“Happy are those whose heart's desire is for righteousness: for they will have their desire”.(BBE)
A hungry soul shall be filled and a righteous desire satisfied. But remember this; knowing where to stay, when to pray, how to pray,what to pray for or reading interesting literatures on prayer cannot settled the matter but to pray. So ‘to pray is to pray’
You need to tell God about your family,community,nation, the world,the needy, the oppressed folks, the youths, the widows and the aged ones. God wants to hear you. You can understand prayer properly and its demands or sacrifices when you allow the Lord and His Spirit to lead you into it. You can enjoy His instructions at the school of prayer. You need Him because the Word of God says;
“We (You) know not what we (you) should pray for,as we (you) ought”(Romans 8:26)
“So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and
groanings too deep for utterance” (AMP)
Again,
“But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you ,and ye need not that any man teach you; but as the same anointing teacheth you all things, and is truth, and is no lie,an even as it hath taught you, ye shall not abide in Him” (1 John 2;27)
No Man can teach you but a Higher Being or Supernatural personality which is God. Because when He teaches you, you should remain in Him. His Word is truth and there is no lie in it. The Holy Spirit takes control of your prayer life and reveals to you how to pray especially according to the will of God.
However, God wants His people to pray. He wants to hear the voice of the doctors, carpenters, lawyers, Statesmen, merchants, travellers, business people, engineers, ministers of the gospel, congregations, nurses,students and everyone. His word is “Ask”
