INTRODUCTION:
Life is full of challenges that can weaken us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Many people struggle under the weight of trials, temptations, and setbacks. But the good news is that Jesus strengthens those who trust in Him.
The strength Jesus gives is not ordinary; it is divine strength that empowers us to overcome difficulties, persevere in faith, and fulfil our God-given purpose. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, giving us the ability to rise above life’s battles.
In this sermon, we will explore the different ways Jesus strengthens His people and how we can receive and walk in His divine strength.
1. JESUS STRENGTHENS THE WEAK
No matter how weak you feel, Jesus gives supernatural strength.
a) God gives power to the faint (Isaiah 40:29)
When human strength fails, divine strength takes over.
b) His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)
In our lowest moments, God’s power is revealed.
c) Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31)
Waiting on God brings fresh energy and vitality.
d) The Lord is the strength of His people (Psalm 28:8)
He does not leave His own helpless.
e) Biblical Example: Gideon’s Transformation (Judges 6:12-16)
Though weak and fearful, Gideon was strengthened by God to become a mighty warrior.
2. JESUS STRENGTHENS US FOR SPIRITUAL WARFARE
The Christian life is a battlefield, and Jesus equips us with strength to stand.
a) Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10)
Spiritual battles require divine strength.
b) We do not fight with human weapons (2 Corinthians 10:4)
Victory comes through the power of God.
c) God gives strength to resist the enemy (James 4:7)
When we submit to God, we overcome Satan.
d) The joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10)
Spiritual strength is connected to our joy in Christ.
e) Biblical Example: David’s Victory over Goliath (1 Samuel 17:45-50)
David’s strength came from God, not from physical might.
3. JESUS STRENGTHENS US IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
When life’s storms come, His strength upholds us.
a) God is our refuge and strength in trouble (Psalm 46:1)
He is ever-present in difficult times.
b) Even in the valley of the shadow of death, He is with us (Psalm 23:4)
His presence gives us courage.
c) He upholds us with His right hand (Isaiah 41:10)
We will not be shaken if we trust in Him.
d) We are hard-pressed but not destroyed (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
Trials may come, but they will not break us.
e) Biblical Example: Paul and Silas in Prison (Acts 16:25-26)
Despite their suffering, God’s strength gave them the courage to praise Him, leading to their deliverance.
4. JESUS STRENGTHENS US TO SERVE AND DO HIS WILL
We need divine strength to fulfil God’s purpose in our lives.
a) We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13)
No assignment is too difficult with His strength.

His grace enables us to serve effectively.

Apart from Him, we can do nothing.

Though he felt inadequate, God strengthened Moses for his mission.
5. JESUS STRENGTHENS US TO ENDURE UNTIL THE END
Endurance in faith requires divine strength.
a) He who endures to the end shall be saved (Matthew 24:13)
Strength is needed for perseverance.
b) God strengthens us to overcome temptations (1 Corinthians 10:13)
No temptation is too strong for God’s power.
c) We must run the race with endurance (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Fixing our eyes on Jesus keeps us going.
d) The Lord will strengthen us until His return (1 Thessalonians 3:13)
He will keep us blameless until the end.
e) Biblical Example: Jesus Strengthening Peter (Luke 22:31-32)
Despite Peter’s failure, Jesus prayed for his faith to remain strong.
