I. Introduction
A. I want to talk to you today about something very special.
1. Think of the greatest gift you were ever given.
a. (Allow for a few children to offer suggestions.)
2. I want to tell you today about a gift that is even better than any of those.
II. Jesus Loves Me (first verse)
A. When I was a little boy, not much older than some of you, I learned a song that would stay with me the rest of my life.
1. (Sing the first verse of the song. Invite the children to sing along if they know it.)
B. Do any of you know any verse from the Bible that tells you that Jesus loves you?
1. John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life.
a. God loved each of us so much that He sent His little boy to a bad world so that anybody, and that means everybody who believes in Him could go to Heaven and live with God!
III. Jesus Loves Me (second verse)
A. But God had a very special plan for His Little Boy.
1. Jesus was supposed to grow up and have some very good friends who would tell everyone about Him.
a. These were the twelve disciples.
2. Jesus was also supposed to die.
a. Jesus died a very special death.
1) He was put on a cross.
2) He died for me.
3. But Jesus also came back from the dead.
a. The bible teaches us that Jesus was gone for three days, and then He rose to life on the third day.
1) Does anyone know what day we celebrate Jesus’ raising from the dead?
a) Easter
B. Jesus died for a very special reason.
1. He died to take away our sin.
a. The Bible says that when John the Baptist saw Jesus, he said, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 CEV
2. He died so that we could be God’s children.
a. John 1:12 CEV “…some people accepted him and put their faith in him. So he gave them the right to be the children of God.”
3. He died so that we could go to Heaven with Jesus and God.
a. John 14:2-3 CEV “There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I wouldn’t tell you this, unless it was true. I am going there to prepare a place for each of you. After I have done this, I will come back and take you with me. Then we will be together.”
C. (Teach and sing the second verse.)
IV. A-B-C
A. Is there anybody here right now that knows that they are going to Heaven?
1. (Allow a moment for kids to think and answer.)
B. Is there any one here tonight that doesn’t know for sure?
1. (Allow a moment for kids to think and answer.)
c. There is a very easy way to know that you are going to Heaven, and I am going to teach you right now.
A. The first thing you have to do is A-dmit you are a sinner
1. Romans 3:23 CEV “All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.”
B. The next thing you must do is B-elieve that Jesus died for your sins.
1. He died for your sins
a. Romans 5:8 CEV “But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.”
2. His forgiveness is a free gift
a. Ephesians 2:8-9 CEV “You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God’s gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. It isn’t something you have earned, so there is nothing you can brag about.”
C. The last thing you must do is C-onfess to others that Jesus is your Savior, and that He lives in your heart.
1. Romans 10:9-10, 13 CEV “So you will be saved, if you honestly say, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe with all your heart that God raised him from death. God will accept you and save you, if you truly believe this and tell it to others. All who call out to the Lord will be saved.”
D. It really is that easy.
V. Conclusion
A. Let’s all bow our heads and close our eyes.
1. Do not look around. This time is between you and God.
B. All of you that said that you weren’t sure if you were going to Heaven, would you like to know for sure?
1. If you raise your hand right now quietly, someone will come and help you go through those A-B-C’s that we just talked about. Will you do that?
