This sermon explores understanding the unseen spiritual realities, transcending human understanding through God's knowledge, and exercising kingdom authority through this knowledge.
Welcome, dear friends, to this gathering of hearts and minds. It's a joy to see each one of you here today, and I am grateful for this opportunity to share God's Word together. We are here to reflect, to learn, and to grow. We are here to seek wisdom and understanding that comes from the Word of God.
The Scripture that we are going to focus on today is from the book of Luke, Chapter 11, verses 14 to 20. Allow me to read it for you: "Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed. But some of them said, 'By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.' Others tested him by asking for a sign from heaven. Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: 'Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand? I say this because you claim that I drive out demons by Beelzebul. Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.'"
These verses are a treasure trove of profound wisdom and truth, revealing to us the power of knowledge and authority bestowed upon us by God. It reminds us of the unseen spiritual realities that surround us, and the authority we have in Christ.
In the realm of our human existence, we are often confined by the limitations of our physical senses. We see the world around us, we hear the sounds, we feel the textures, we taste the flavors, and we smell the scents. But is that all there is to our existence? Is there not more beyond what our senses can perceive? The Scripture we read today from the book of Luke challenges us to consider this.
Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. This is a spiritual reality that was unseen to the human eye. Yet, it was as real as the physical world around them. The man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed. They were witnessing the manifestation of an unseen spiritual reality in the physical realm. This is the first aspect we need to understand about knowing the unseen. It's not about seeing with our physical eyes, but it's about perceiving with our spiritual senses.
Now, some in the crowd questioned the source of Jesus' power. They said, 'By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.' Here, we see another aspect of knowing the unseen. It's not just about acknowledging the existence of the spiritual realm, but it's also about discerning the source of spiritual power. Jesus knew their thoughts and responded to their doubts. He made it clear that His power was not from Beelzebul, but from God. This discernment is crucial in knowing the unseen. It helps us distinguish between the truth and the lies, between the divine and the demonic.
Jesus further explained what he meant. He said, 'Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?' This brings us to another aspect of knowing the unseen. It's about understanding the dynamics of the spiritual realm. Just as there are laws and principles governing our physical world, there are also laws and principles governing the spiritual world. A kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. This principle is true in the physical realm, and it's also true in the spiritual realm. Understanding these dynamics helps us navigate the unseen with wisdom and discernment.
Finally, Jesus declared, 'But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.' This is the ultimate aspect of knowing the unseen. It's about recognizing the presence and the power of the kingdom of God in our midst. The kingdom of God is not a physical location. It's a spiritual reality. It's the reign and rule of God in our hearts and lives. Recognizing this reality is the key to experiencing the power and the authority of God in our lives.
