Jesus Is The Right One (Part 1 of Series)

Chaplain David Tack: Sounds of Joy Ministries

I) INTRODUCTION… Thank you Lord… It is good to be IN CHRIST this morning!

Ephesians 1:3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

IN CHRIST WE HAVE:

A love (in Jesus) that can never be fathomed

A life (in Jesus) that can never die

A righteousness (in Jesus) that can never be tarnished

A peace (in Jesus) that can never be understood

A rest (in Jesus) that can never be disturbed

A joy (in Jesus) that can never be diminished

A hope (in Jesus) that can never be disappointed

A glory (in Jesus) that can never be clouded

A light (in Jesus) that can never be darkened

A purity (in Jesus) that can never be defiled

A beauty (in Jesus) that can never be marred

A wisdom (in Jesus) that can never be baffled

Resources (in Jesus) that can never be exhausted.

In this series, I want to look at just six (6) of the inexhaustible characterizations that can be associated with the name of JESUS: (1) Jesus is The RIGHT ONE; (2) Jesus is, The RIGHTEOUS ONE; (3) Jesus is, The REJECTED ONE; (4) Jesus is The REDEEMING ONE; (5) Jesus is The RESURRECTED ONE; (6) Jesus is The RE-MITTING ONE.

NOTE: To set the proper context, REMEMBER: Sin has separated and severed us from God, and we needed a way back. A way of reconciliation, a way of restoration. Where can we find such a way? My friend, this avenue is found only in CHRIST!

Romans 5:10: For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

- Reconcile- To make other than it is… To exchange!

I) OUR FIRST CHARACTERIZATION OF JESUS IS: JESUS IS THE RIGHT ONE

Let’s look at Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation [deliverance, saving, rescue] in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (John 14:6; 1 Timothy 2:5 [one mediator]).

Every book in the Bible speaks of Christ as the source of salvation; and it is a coherent thread found throughout the Scripture . . . any other form of obtaining salvation (based upon Scripture) is illogical and would not unify with the reoccurring biblical theme of Christ (and Christ alone) for salvation.

THIS MORNING LET’S LOOK AT SOME WRONG AVENUES FOR RECONCILIATION!

GOOD WORKS will not RECONCILE you to God this morning!

Titus 3:5: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved [rescued] us, by the washing of regeneration [a re-birth or recreation of fallen humanity], and renewing of the Holy Ghost”

THANK YOU GOD FOR YOUR MERCY… It has been said, "all the wickedness in the world that man may do or think is no more to the mercy of God than a live coal dropped in the sea" (Langford, William Quotemeal, August 28, 2013)

BAPTISM will not RECONCILE you to God this morning!

John 3:3-7: (3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again [Gr. From above], he cannot see the kingdom of God. (4) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? (5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (John the Baptist’s Baptism of repentence) and of the Spirit (the Holy Spirit), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (n)

In this passage note the “demands that he (Nicodemus) be re-made by the power of God. The word rendered anew might equally be translated from above . . . Entry into the kingdom is not by way of human striving [hence: the ordinance of water baptism had not been given yet] (c.f. 1:13), but by that re-birth [repentance and regeneration] which only God can effect” (Morris, 212-213).

“Baptism [being physically baptized in water] doesn’t make you saved, it’s a symbol identifying the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Wedding rings don’t make you married, they’re a symbol showing you are married.” Ref: An email from Dan Bloch dated December 7, 24.

John the Baptist in Matthew 3:11 tells the Pharisees and Sadducees: “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.”
