Summary: Isaiah gave a prophetic word is describing the Son of God as a nail in a sure place.

Jesus Is a Nail in a Sure Place By Gerald Van Horn

Isaiah 22:23 “I will fasten him like a nail in a sure place.”

Isaiah gave a prophetic word in describing the Son of God as a nail in a sure place. We will examine some areas where this has happened.

1. Jesus is a sure nail in providing healing. Deliverence from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers.

Isaiah 53:4-5. “Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.”

Matthew 8:16-17.”When the evening was come they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils; he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, he himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness.”

Psalms 6:2 “Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak, O Lord, heal

me, for my bones are vexed.”

Psalms 103:3 “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy

diseases.”

2. Jesus is a sure nail in providing salvation for all who come to him.

Romans 6:23. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Luke 19:10. “For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Acts 4:12. “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Ephesians 2:8. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.”

3. Jesus is a sure nail concerning his word..

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

Psalms 119:89. “For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven”.

Matthew 5:18. “For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

Note: The Bible is the word of God and contains 66 books by forty different writers, living at different places and in different environments during a period of sixteen hundred years. Each writer, without being aware of it, contributing his essential part to make one whole, each adding to and making clear, but never contradicting what the rest wrote!

4. Jesus is a nail in a sure place in giving us the “blessed hope”.

The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is imminent and the blessed hope of the church.

Luke 21:36. “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

John 14:2,3. “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also.”

Hebrews 9:28. “ So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

“The dead in Christ shall rise first and we that remain shall be caught up in the air and we shall be changed”. See I Thess.4:16-17, I Corinthians 15:52.

He was nailed to the cross for me and for you - a nail in a sure place. You can and must trust Him. The reward is too great for anyone to miss. You can believe it now!
