INTRODUCTION:
One of the greatest roles Jesus plays in our lives today is that of an intercessor. After completing His work of salvation on the cross, He ascended to heaven, where He continually prays for His people. His intercession sustains believers, strengthens them in times of weakness, and secures their victory.
Many Christians struggle in their faith journey due to trials, temptations, and spiritual battles. However, Jesus does not leave us to fight alone; He stands as our advocate before the Father. His intercession ensures that we remain in God's grace and receive divine help.
This sermon will explore five key aspects of Jesus' intercession and how it impacts our lives.
1. JESUS INTERCEDES FOR OUR SALVATION
Jesus prays for sinners to be saved and remain in Him.
a) He is able to save to the uttermost (Hebrews 7:25)
His intercession secures our eternal salvation.
b) He prayed for those who crucified Him (Luke 23:34)
Even at His death, He interceded for sinners.
c) He desires all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9)
Jesus continuously prays for the lost.
d) He is our advocate with the Father (1 John 2:1)
He stands in the gap when we fall into sin.
e) Biblical Example: Stephen’s Prayer for His Persecutors (Acts 7:59-60)
Just like Jesus, Stephen prayed for his enemies before dying.
2. JESUS INTERCEDES FOR OUR STRENGTH IN FAITH
Believers face challenges, but Jesus prays for their faith to remain strong.
a) He prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail (Luke 22:31-32)
Even when Satan attacks, His intercession preserves us.
b) He asked the Father to keep His disciples from the evil one (John 17:15)
Jesus shields His followers through prayer.
c) The Holy Spirit intercedes with groanings (Romans 8:26)
Jesus and the Spirit work together in our weakness.
d) We are kept by the power of God through faith (1 Peter 1:5)
His prayers strengthen and sustain our walk with God.
e) Biblical Example: Elijah Prayed for Strength and God Sent an Angel (1 Kings 19:4-8)
God answered Elijah’s distress by sending divine help.
3. JESUS INTERCEDES FOR OUR PROTECTION
He prays that we are kept safe from harm, both spiritually and physically.
a) He prayed for the unity and safety of His followers (John 17:11)
His prayer covers us in every season of life.
b) He asks for divine protection against the enemy (John 17:15)
His intercession shields us from demonic attacks.
c) No weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)
His prayers ensure our victory over the enemy.
d) He watches over our going out and coming in (Psalm 121:8)
His intercession covers our daily lives.
e) Biblical Example: Daniel in the Lions’ Den (Daniel 6:16-22)
God protected Daniel because he remained faithful in prayer.
4. JESUS INTERCEDES FOR OUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH
His prayers ensure that we grow in faith and holiness.
a) He prays for believers to be sanctified by the truth (John 17:17)
His intercession helps us grow in righteousness.
b) He desires that we bear much fruit (John 15:5)
His prayers empower us to live a productive Christian life.

Paul followed Jesus' example by interceding for the church’s growth.
5. JESUS INTERCEDES FOR OUR FINAL GLORIFICATION
His prayers secure our place in heaven.
a) He prays that we will be with Him in glory (John 17:24)
His intercession guarantees our eternal home.
b) He will present us blameless before the Father (Jude 1:24)
His prayers ensure our final victory.
c) He prepares a place for us (John 14:2-3)
His intercession is working for our heavenly reward.
d) He will confess us before the Father (Matthew 10:32)
His intercession ensures we are accepted in heaven.
e) Biblical Example: The Martyrs in Revelation Praying for Justice (Revelation 6:9-11)
Their cries were heard, and Jesus ensured their final victory.
CONCLUSION:
Jesus is not just our Saviour; He is our intercessor. His prayers sustain our salvation, strengthen our faith, protect us, help us grow spiritually, and secure our eternal destiny.
If Jesus is praying for you, then victory is certain. No matter what you face, His intercession is your guarantee of triumph. Trust in Him, and rest in the assurance that He is always praying for you.
