Jesus Identifies Himself: The Christ
Contributed by Timm Meyer on Nov 28, 2017 (message contributor)
Summary: Easter 4(C) - Jesus identifies Himself as the Christ. Jesus’ sheep hear his voice. Jesus keeps his sheep save.
CONC.: Christ means anointed. Jesus was anointed as King. Jesus still rules the world and our lives as King for our eternal good. Jesus was anointed as Prophet. Jesus proclaimed the gospel. This same gospel will be proclaimed to the ends of the earth before his return. Jesus was anointed as Priest. Jesus is not only a priest who offered sacrifices but is the Priest who offers himself as the perfect Sacrifice. Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, our Messiah, and our Good Shepherd. Only by God’s grace are we God’s sheep who hear Jesus’ voice. As God’s sheep we rejoice that we are always kept safe in the hand of Jesus and the Father. "Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise" (PSALM 79:13). Amen. Pastor Timm O. Meyer
