Dr. Oral Roberts, who founded the university that carries his name back in 1963, God gave him a mandate, “Raise up your students to hear My voice, to go where My light is dim, where My voice is heard small, and My healing power is not known, even to the uttermost bounds of the earth. Their work will exceed yours, and in this I am well pleased”. There’s a 60ft (18.2) ton bronze sculpture on campus of the Praying Hands. Dr. Roberts explained it this way,” one hand represents prayer and the other hand for medicine and that’s what the praying hands that is on campus.

I too believe in the power of prayer and medicine. I believe in the healing power of God and I hope you do.

According to U.S. News and the Internet site Beliefnet funded a poll to learn more about why, how, where and when people pray.

· 75% percent were Christian.

· 64% say they pray more than once a day.

· 56% say they most often pray for family members, with 3.3% saying that they pray for strangers.

· A little over 38% say that the most important purpose of prayer is intimacy with God.

· 41% say that their prayers are answered often.

· 1.5% say that their prayers are never answered.

· Over 73% say when their prayers are not answered, the most important reason is because they did not fit God’s plan

· 5% say that they pray most often in a house of worship.

· 79% say that they pray most often at home.

· 67% say that in the past six months, their prayers

have related to continually giving thanks to God. (Pastor’s Weekly Briefing, 12/24/04)

Throughout Jesus’ ministry, there’s always healing. Although, the Scribes and the other Church leaders of their day were objective of it, He healed not only because of the power He had but there was a need during that time.

Still even these days and times, healing is needed especially with the pandemic continues to kill off a lot of people, I still believe there is healing in the mist of God’s people.

The writer James asked the question to the reader, if there any sick among you? There is good news for you! You can be healed by the Power of God.

There is the Healing of the Body, Healing of the Mind, and Healing of the Spirit.

I.HEALING OF THE BODY. People do get sick and yes, even unto death. Sickness will come in our lives sometime as we continue to live in this life. Even under the sound of my voice, I had to be forced to retire early because of my health was weaking me while I was working. I believe God can heal but He’ll do it in His own time. I believe in healing because, “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed” 1 Peter 2:24.

II.HEALING OF THE MIND. Sickness is not only in our bodies but also in our minds as well. Let’s look at two Scriptures in mind... “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee and overtake thee”. Deuteronomy 28:15 KJV and “The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart” Deuteronomy 28:28 KJV. Now the word “madness” when using the Strong’s Concordance with the King James Version of the Bible, there is your original Hebrew word shigga own meaning craziness; -furiously madness. Remember the young man that was hanging out in the graveyard with many demons in him? Jesus casted out the demons, upset the pig farmers by drawing them at a nearby watering hole and upsetting the farmers probably their only means of making money and then in Luke 8:35 this young man was “...siting at the feet of Jesus clothed and in his right mind.” Your body can be healed! Your mind, like the young man casted out the demon, can be healed! Why don’t you let Him heal you today?

III.HEALING OF YOUR SPIRIT. There are two Scriptures that come to mind: Isaiah 61:1 and Acts 10:38.

Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,

Because the Lord has anointed me

To bring good news to the afflicted;

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to captives

And freedom to prisoners;

Acts 10:38

You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
