Summary: You can walk on the water if you step out of the boat on faith.

Jesus Came Walking On The Water! Matthew 14:23-33

Now I want to talk to you about your faith. So many of us today we want to do great things for God. One problem with that is to do great things we must first have faith that the Lord will rescue us if we fail. When Peter asked Lord bid me to come on the water he believed that if Christ called him then he too could walk on the water. He also believed that Jesus would rescue him if something happened.

When you are obedient to God’s will you can step out on the water knowing that he will not allow anything to happen to you. If you begin to sink he will immediately pick you up out of the water. Peter took his eyes off the Lord he became concerned with the wind when he did this he got with in himself instead of being in the will of God. It was at that moment he began to sink. When he cried out Lord save me immediately Jesus picked him up.

You also need to know that if you want to do great things for God you will have to step out on faith. You will not always know what is going to happen but you can have faith that no matter what happens if you step out of the boat you can walk on water for God. Faith in God will allow you to step out of the boat.

When Jesus bid Peter to come to him he was standing on the water. When Peter focused on the Lord and put his faith in the Lord he stepped out of the boat and began to walk on the water. Now you might say yes but he began to sink he began to sink when he took his focus off the Lord he began to worry about the wind. He got out of the will of the Lord and in himself. If Peter had kept his focus on the Lord he would have never began to sink.

Now I am not going to tell you that sometimes the wind won’t be strong or that the storm will not rage. If you keep your focus on God you will be able to stand against the storm. You will be able to walk on the water.

There is something else you must have if you want to do great things for God. You must have a desire to be with the Lord. When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water he wanted to be able to walk on the water to Jesus. Peter said Lord bid me to come to you on the water.

I believe all of the apostles could have walked on the water but none of the others asked to join the Lord. Peter was the only one to ask the Lord if he could join him. If you want to do great things for God tonight you must ask. You will never get what you want from God if you do not ask. You will never get what you want from God if you do not desire to be with God.

Another thing you will need if you want to do great things for God is a willingness to do something. When Jesus told Peter to come if he had not stepped out of the boat he would not have walked on the water. If you want to do great things for God then you have to be willing to step out of the boat when Jesus calls you. You don’t have to worry about sinking in the water if you never get out of the boat.

You can sit around moaning and groaning while others walk on the water. Well the Lord never blesses me anymore. I never see any great deeds for God anymore. I wander why, is it because you sit in the corner being a doubter, pouter, do withouter. Step out of the boat if you want to walk on the water. Step out on the faith God gave you if you want to do great things for God.

Coming to a close: If you want to do great for things for God you have to first ask, then you must be willing to do what God ask you to do. If you want to walk on water then get out of the boat.

I love all of you tonight but it is time for us to be about our father’s business. It is time we get off the seat of do nothing. Sinners are dying everyday never having heard of Jesus because we are not telling them. There are people in hell tonight just because you didn’t say anything when the Lord told you to. People who were once Christians have lost there way because you won’t show them. Time is running out tonight. Will you step out of the boat and take a chance you might begin to sink but God will rescue you. Jesus is walking on the waters tonight will you join him?
