Introduction

Good morning, dear friends. Isn't it a blessing to gather together in God's house? Isn't it a joy to open His word and let it speak to us? Isn't it a privilege to learn from the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ?

Today, we turn our hearts and minds to a passage in the Gospel of John. Specifically, John 4:1-41. It's a familiar story. You might have heard it before. It's about a well. It's about a woman. But most importantly, it's about our Lord Jesus Christ.

Before we step into the text, let's remember the words of G.K. Chesterton, who once said, "The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are generally the same people." It's a simple truth, isn't it? But it's one that we often forget. Yet, it's a truth that finds its place in our passage today.

Jesus Justifies

As we look at the story of the Samaritan woman, we see a woman who is weary. She's tired. She's been carrying the weight of her past, the weight of her sins. She's been carrying the weight of the world. And she's thirsty. Not just for water, but for something more. Something that can quench her deepest thirst. Something that can give her rest.

And then she meets Jesus. And everything changes. Because Jesus doesn't see her as the world sees her. He doesn't see her as a sinner. He doesn't see her as a Samaritan. He doesn't see her as a woman. He sees her as a child of God. He sees her as someone who is worthy of love, worthy of grace, worthy of salvation.

A. And that's the first thing we need to understand about Jesus. He justifies. He doesn't condemn. He doesn't judge. He justifies. He sees our sins, our mistakes, our failures. But He doesn't define us by them. He defines us by His love, His grace, His mercy. He defines us by His sacrifice on the cross. He defines us by His resurrection. He defines us by His promise of eternal life.

And that's what He offers to the Samaritan woman. He offers her living water. He offers her a love that quenches all thirst. He offers her a grace that covers all sins. He offers her a mercy that heals all wounds. He offers her a salvation that is for all. He offers her Himself.

B. And that's the second thing we need to understand about Jesus. He doesn't just justify. He also offers. He offers Himself. He offers His love. He offers His grace. He offers His mercy. He offers His salvation. He offers His living water. He offers His rest.

And the Samaritan woman accepts. She accepts His love. She accepts His grace. She accepts His mercy. She accepts His salvation. She accepts His living water. She accepts His rest.

C. And that's the third thing we need to understand about Jesus. He doesn't just justify and offer. He also accepts. He accepts us. He accepts our sins. He accepts our mistakes. He accepts our failures. He accepts our thirst. He accepts our weariness. He accepts us.

And in accepting us, He transforms us. He transforms our sins into righteousness. He transforms our mistakes into lessons. He transforms our failures into victories. He transforms our thirst into satisfaction. He transforms our weariness into rest. He transforms us.

D. And that's the fourth thing we need to understand about Jesus. He doesn't just justify, offer, and accept. He also transforms. He transforms us. He transforms our lives. He transforms our hearts. He transforms our minds. He transforms our souls. He transforms us.

And in transforming us, He empowers us. He empowers us to live in His love. He empowers us to live in His grace. He empowers us to live in His mercy. He empowers us to live in His salvation. He empowers us to live in His living water. He empowers us to live in His rest. He empowers us to live in Him.

E. And that's the fifth thing we need to understand about Jesus. He doesn't just justify, offer, accept, and transform. He also empowers. He empowers us. He empowers us to live. He empowers us to love. He empowers us to serve. He empowers us to share. He empowers us to testify. He empowers us to be His witnesses. He empowers us to be His disciples. He empowers us to be His children. He empowers us.
