This sermon explores how God breaks barriers of disbelief, blesses us with His divine words, and equips us for our divine purpose, using Jeremiah's calling as an example.

Introduction

Beloved friends, welcome. We gather here today, not as strangers, but as a family united in faith, bound by a love that transcends all barriers. We are here, not merely to listen, but to be transformed by the power of God's Word. We are not spectators, but active participants in the grand narrative of God's redemptive love for humanity.

In the wise words of Charles Spurgeon, "Visit many good books, but live in the Bible." Today, we will live in the book of Jeremiah, specifically in the first chapter, verses 11 to 19. Let's listen attentively to what the Lord is saying to us through His Word:

Belief Barriers Broken

In the passage from Jeremiah, we see the young prophet confronted with a vision from God. This vision was not just a simple image; it was a divine revelation that would challenge his understanding of reality. It was a test of his faith, a test of his belief. Jeremiah saw an almond branch, a symbol of watchfulness and promptness. God was watching over His word to perform it. He was not a distant, uninvolved deity, but an active, engaged Creator who was intimately involved in the affairs of His people.

Jeremiah also saw a boiling pot, tilting away from the north. This was a symbol of the impending disaster that was about to befall the people of Judah because of their wickedness. They had forsaken God, turned to other gods, and were worshipping the works of their hands. This was a clear violation of the first commandment, "You shall have no other gods before me." Their unbelief had erected a barrier between them and God, and this barrier was about to result in their downfall.
