ITS OK TO BE DIFFERENT

TEXT: LUKE 2:41-52

INTRO: HERE WE SEE THAT JESUS IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE START AT 12 YEARS OLD HE WASNT OUT WITH HIS FRIENDS PLAYING, HE WASNT GONE FISHING OR HE WASNT HANGING OUT IN THE COOL PLACES OR GETTING INTO MISCHIEF.

NO FRIEND HE WAS DIFFERENT HE WAS AT CHURCH AND PEOPLE OF HIGH IMPORTANCE WAS GATHERED AROUND HIM ( DOCTORS) THIS WORD IN THE STRONGS CONCORDANCE MEANS A TEACHER AND IN THE GREEK ITS A NOUN PRONOUNCED DIDASKALOS ( DE-DA-SKA-LOS) TEACHERS IN THE TEMPLE PROBABLY BIBLE SCHOLARS OR MEN WHO NEW THE OLD TESTAMENT WERE GATHERED AROUND THIS 12 YEAR OLD AND HE WAS ASKING QUESTIONS AND THEY WERE ALL ASTONISHED AT HIM AND HIS UNDERSTANDING AND ANSWERS OF THE SCRIPTURES AND THINGS OF GOD. HE WAS DIFFERENT HE WAS ALL MAN AND ALL GOD.

DAVID WAS DIFFERENT AS WELL- HE WATCHED AFTER HIS FATHERS SHEEP

JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS DIFFERENT- HE PREACHED REPENTANCE AND WAS THE FIRST PERSON FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST LUKE1:15

PAUL WAS DIFFERENT - HE WAS CHOSEN TO PREACH AND BE A MISSIONARY AND PAUL SAID EVERYTHING WAS LOSS SAVE KNOWING CHRIST

PETER, JAMES, AND JOHN WAS ALL DIFFERENT-DISCIPLES OF JESUS

ITS OK TO BE DIFFERENT

EVERYONE SEEKS TO BE ACCEPTED

I DO YOU DO WE ALL LIKE BEING LIKED

JESUS ACCEPTS YOU, JESUS LOVES YOU

DIFFERENT MEANS- DISTINCT, SEPARATE, NOT THE SAME.

JESUS CALLED 12 MEN ALL FROM DIFFERENT WALKS OF LIFE THE BIBLE SPEAKS OF BEING DIFFERENT IN SEVERAL PLACES LOOK AT

KEY VERSES;

1 PETER 2:9

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Philippians 2:15

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; (‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

2 Corinthians 6:17

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭17‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

SO HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT ?

1. WE ARE DIFFERENT AS A COUNTRY

we as a nation have been hated by the rest of the world because we are one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all

We are different from the rest of the world and that's ok

The BIBLE Tells us in psalm 33:12

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. (‭Psalms‬ ‭33‬:‭12‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

2. WE ARE DIFFERENT AS A CHURCH

Catholics ain't got what we got sure the got religion and they got Mary

Mormons ain't got what we got, Joseph smith and Brigham young

Jehovah's witnesses ain't got what we got, Charles taze Russell

BUT WE ARE DIFFERENT WE GOT JESUS THE SON OF GOD GOD IN THE FLESH THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA THE BEGINNING AND THE END ITS OK TO BE DIFFERENT BECAUSE WE HAVE SOMEONE WHO DIED FOR US AND THEY DO TO IF THEY WOULD JUST WAKE UP AND REALIZE THE SON OF GOD DIED FOR THEM

IM GLAD IM DIFFERENT

3. WE ARE DIFFERENT AS A COMMUNITY

we still sanction our lives around the one who died we still go to church with those in our community we still fellowship with those around spreading the love of Jesus Christ

4. WE ARE DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF CALVARY

you wanna be different try reading your BIBLE AND FOLLOWING CHRIST BE FAITHFUL THE GOD AND HIS HOUSE

IN CHRIST WE ARE SAVED,SEALED ,AND SANCTIFIED WE ARE CONSIDERED BECAUSE OF JESUS TO GOD THE FATHER THE SAME AS HIS SON JESUS

1 JOHN 3:2

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

If we are saved, we are saved! according to

JUDE 1:24

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, (‭Jude‬ ‭1‬:‭24‬ KJV)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Conclusion: My Point is are you different? Or are you really like the world? The Bible tells us to be separate from the world, Mom, dad your kids really want you to be different, they really want you to go for God because salvation is of the Lord, sanctification is of the Lord and it is the Lord who seals us eternally in Christ. This morning would be a good time for some of us just to come to this altar and say Lord Whatever, whatever it is that you want Lord here am I, I want to be different Lord, will you go for the Beloved, The Bible, and The brethren?
