Explores God's divine plan of salvation, emphasizing the depth of His love, the purpose of His plan, and the power of His works.

Introduction

Welcome, brothers and sisters in Christ, to this gathering of believers, united by faith and love for our Lord Jesus Christ. It's wonderful to see each one of you here today, bringing with you the light of the Holy Spirit, ready to share and receive the Word of God. We are here to celebrate the glory of God, to learn from His teachings, and to strengthen our faith in His promises.

Today, we turn our hearts and minds to the book of Matthew, specifically Matthew 1:21. The verse reads,

"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

This powerful verse is a testament to God's divine plan of salvation, a reminder of His promises, and a reflection of His mighty works.

As we stand on the threshold of this sermon, let us remember the words of the great Christian author, Charles Spurgeon, who once said, "Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened." This quote beautifully captures the essence of our faith journey, reminding us that our faith in God is built on love and filled with hope.

In today's sermon, we will reflect on the Promises Proclaimed by God, the Purposeful Plan He has for each one of us, and His Powerful Performance in fulfilling His promises. We will seek to understand the depth of God's love for us, the purpose of His divine plan, and the power of His works.

As we embark on this spiritual reflection, let us bow our heads in prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today with humble hearts, grateful for Your grace and mercy. We thank You for Your Word that guides us, Your love that sustains us, and Your promises that give us hope. As we reflect on Your Word today, we ask for Your Holy Spirit to illuminate our hearts and minds, that we may gain a deeper understanding of Your divine plan. Help us to apply Your teachings in our daily lives, that we may be a living testimony of Your love and grace. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let’s get started!

Promises Proclaimed

In the book of Matthew, we find an angel of the Lord appearing to Joseph in a dream. The angel brings a message of divine promise. A promise that Mary, his betrothed, will bear a son. This son is not just any child, but the Savior of the world. The angel instructs Joseph to name the child Jesus, a name that means "the Lord saves." This is a promise of salvation, a promise that Jesus will save His people from their sins.

For everyone: This promise is not just for Joseph and Mary, or for the people of their time. It's a promise for all of us, for all of humanity. It's a promise that echoes through the ages, reaching us today. It's a promise that tells us that no matter how far we may stray, no matter how lost we may feel, there is a Savior who can save us from our sins.

A testament to God's love for us: It's a promise that shows us how much He cares for us, how much He wants to save us from the consequences of our sins. It's a promise that assures us that we are not alone in our struggles, that we have a Savior who is with us, who is for us, who is ready to save us.

A testament to God's faithfulness: God doesn't just make promises, He keeps them. He doesn't just say He will do something, He does it. When God promised a Savior, He delivered. He sent His only Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. This is a promise that we can trust, a promise that we can rely on, a promise that we can hold on to.

A promise of transformation: When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are not just saved from our sins, we are transformed. We are changed from the inside out. We are made new. This is a promise of new life, a promise of a fresh start, a promise of a better future.

Also for the world: When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we become part of His mission to save the world. We become part of His plan to bring salvation to all of humanity. This is a promise of purpose, a promise of meaning, a promise of a life that matters.
