VIII. MAIN BODY:
Genesis 49:14-15 (Amplified Bible)
Issachar is a strong-boned donkey crouching down between the sheepfolds.
And he saw that rest was good and that the land was pleasant; and he bowed his shoulder to bear [his burdens] and became a servant to tribute [subjected to forced labor].
Genesis 49:14-15 (King James Version)
Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
A. Issachar is a strong beast of burden
"Issachar is a strong-boned donkey crouching down between the sheepfolds."
Issachar from the Hebrew word means "he will bring a reward".
Joshua 19:17-23 (Amplified Bible)
The fourth lot fell to Issachar, to its people according to their families.
Their territory included: Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem,
Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,
Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez.
The boundary reached to Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh, and ended at the Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages.
This is the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.
Don't depend on your own strength. Yes, Issachar saw and magnified his strength as an ass that's why he became a slave to the mighty.
Job 39:11 (Amplified Bible)
Will you trust him because his strength is great, or to him will you leave your labor?
1 Chronicles 16:11 (Amplified Bible)
Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!
Psalms 105:4 (New International Version)
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Always look to the LORD for His Strength not on your own feeble strength that wears out. Seek GOD's face always and His Strength and Joy will make you strong.
Nehemiah 8:10 (Amplified Bible)
Then [Ezra] told them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.
B. But he became a slave to burden
"And he saw that rest was good and that the land was pleasant; and he bowed his shoulder to bear [his burdens] and became a servant to tribute [subjected to forced labor]."
Don't rest in your past successes, but make new successes for the LORD.
Judges 3:11 (Amplified Bible)
And the land had rest forty years. Then Othniel son of Kenaz died.
Don't be content with it, get more strength from the LORD and win more new victories for the LORD. The people of Israel rested in their victories for forty years. Never do that. Always ask the LORD for fresh revelations and fresh victories.
Psalms 81:6 (Amplified Bible)
I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were freed from the basket.
Matthew 23:4 (Amplified Bible)
