Is It A Holy Day Or A Holiday?

My wife has the worst memory! She don’t forget nothing!

If we are not careful we forget to keep the Sabbath, or we forget to keep it holy!

We all need a day of rest.

I'm tired and I know why, because I'm overworked.

The population of this country is over 200 million. Eighty-four million are

I retired. That leaves 116 million to the work. There are 75 million in school

E so that leaves 41 million to do the work. Of this total, there are 22 million

l employed by the federal government. That leaves 19 million to do the work.

I Four Million are in the armed forces, which leaves 15 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 14,800,00 people who work for state and city

governments, and that leaves 200,000 to do the work. There are 188,000 in

g hospitals, so that leaves 12, 000 to do the work. Now there are 11,998

people in prisons. That just leaves 2 people to do the work. You and me,

and your just sitting there reading this, no wonder I'm tired!

No work, why does God make such a big deal of this?

A limo driver was asked how many miles he was expected to get out of his

new limo. He said that he had driven his previous vehicle over 400,000

without a single major engine repair and fully expected to do the same

with his current one.

When he was asked how he could possibly put that many miles on a car and

not expect lots of car troubles, he replied with a single word, "Maintenance"!

A guy having trouble with his car, the man who stop to help him was Henry

Ford...I know how to work on it because I built it!

God know what we need because He made us!

We all need a time of maintenance!!!

Why did God rest? To give us an example . He wanted to show us that

there is a time to work and a time to rest!

To Many People Have Turned This Holy Day Into A Holiday!

There are sometimes when you can't help but miss church, that should be

the exception not the rule.

Billy Graham once said; "Jesus spoke about the ox in the ditch on the Sabbath.

But if your ox gets in the ditch on every Sabbath, you should either get rid of the ox or fill up that ditch!"

God not only wants us to stop working but He wants us to start worshipping!

A day of rest won't refresh unless we worship!

This is not just a day to follow a bunch of rules, like the Jewish leaders imposed upon people.

1500 rules for the Sabbath.

Isaiah 58:13-14-“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words,

Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Let's look at the Sabbath from a human point of veiw.

Ask woman how to show her that you love her. Saying those words, flowers,

a ring, candle lit dinner, but most of all, spending time with her, listening, talking, being close.

Don't you think God feels the same way?

“I love you better than salt!" (Nothing is good with out you!)

The two woodsman-"Every time, I checked you were taking a rest, yet you chopped more wood than I did".

The winning woodsman said, "But didn't you notice that I was sharpening my ax when I sat down to rest?”

Are you resting or Are you resting and sharpening your ax?
