Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Good morning, church family! Today, we're diving into a transformative message about the purpose, power, and plan God has for each one of us. We'll take a few minutes in Ephesians 2:10 and then turn our attention to 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Ephesians 2:10 tells us, "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." And 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
God doesn't just create us and leave us to figure things out on our own. No, He has a divine purpose for us, the power to transform us, and a perfect plan for our lives.
Let's open in prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your Word which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. As we open the scriptures today, we ask for your Holy Spirit to enlighten our understanding. We want to grasp the depth of your purpose for us, the extent of your power to transform us, and the beauty of your plan for our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
God has a purpose for each one of us. This is a significant truth that we often overlook in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. We are not here by accident. We are not just random beings floating in a vast universe. We are God's masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus to do the good things He planned for us long ago, as Ephesians 2:10 reminds us.
Unique & individual: This purpose is not a general, one-size-fits-all kind of purpose. It's a unique, individual, tailor-made purpose that fits perfectly with who we are, our gifts, our passions, and our experiences. God, in His infinite wisdom and creativity, has woven a purpose into the fabric of our being that only we can fulfill. It's like a piece of a puzzle that only fits in one specific spot. Without that piece, the puzzle is incomplete. Similarly, without us fulfilling our purpose, God's grand design is incomplete.
Benefits others: God's purpose for us is not just for our benefit, but it's also for the benefit of others. We are called to be a blessing to others, to serve others, to love others. Our purpose is outward-focused, not inward-focused. It's about making a positive impact in the world around us, not just about achieving personal success or happiness.
Dynamic: God's purpose for us is also not stagnant or static. It's dynamic, evolving as we grow and mature, as we go through different seasons of life. It's not a one-time thing that we discover and then it's done. It's a lifelong journey of discovery, growth, and transformation.
Not dependent on our past: God's purpose for us is not dependent on our circumstances or our past. It's not limited by our mistakes or failures. In fact, God can use our mistakes and failures, our pain and struggles, to fulfill His purpose in and through us. He can turn our mess into a message, our test into a testimony.
Being with Jesus: God's purpose for us is not about doing but about being. It's not about what we do but about who we are in Christ. It's about being transformed into the likeness of Christ, about becoming more and more like Him. It's about being a reflection of His love, His grace, His mercy, His truth in the world.
Blessing: God's purpose for us is not a burden but a blessing. It's not something we have to do but something we get to do. It's a privilege, an honor, a joy to be used by God, to be a part of His grand design, to be a channel of His love and grace.
He leads us: God's purpose for us is not something we have to figure out on our own. He is our guide, our mentor, our coach. He leads us, guides us, equips us, empowers us to fulfill our purpose. He gives us the Holy Spirit to enlighten our understanding, to reveal His purpose to us, to empower us to fulfill it.
God's purpose for us is a life-transforming truth that we need to embrace and live out. It's not just about knowing it but about living it. It's about aligning our lives with God's purpose, about making His purpose our purpose, about living a purpose-driven life.
God's power to transform us is gentle, but it’s also mighty ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
