Preach "The King Has Come" 3-Part Series this week!
Preach Christmas week
This sermon aims to explore and understand the power of integrity, the responsibility of unity, and the blessing of doing right.
Good morning, church family. I am thrilled to see you all gathered here today, eager and open to receive God's word. Today, we're going to delve into the heart of Galatians, specifically Galatians 6:1-5, where we will explore The Power of Integrity, The Responsibility of Unity, and The Blessing of Doing Right.
C.S. Lewis, a respected Christian author and theologian, once said, "Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching." This quote perfectly encapsulates the essence of our message today. As believers, we are called to walk in integrity, to uphold unity, and to find joy and blessing in doing what's right, even when it's challenging.
Let's read our passage together: "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load."
The Power of Integrity is a profound concept that is deeply rooted in the Christian faith. It is a virtue that is not only admired but also expected of every believer. As we delve into the heart of Galatians 6:1-5, we find that integrity is a fundamental aspect of our spiritual journey. It is the moral compass that guides our actions, decisions, and interactions with others.
A. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. It is about being true to oneself and to God. It is about standing firm in our beliefs, even when faced with trials and temptations. In the context of our passage, integrity is demonstrated when we gently restore a brother or sister who has been caught in sin. It is about being spiritually mature enough to guide them back to the right path without falling into temptation ourselves.
B. Integrity is also about self-awareness and self-assessment. The passage warns against thinking we are something when we are not, which is a form of self-deception. It is easy to compare ourselves to others and feel superior or inferior based on our perceptions. However, integrity calls us to test our own actions and take pride in ourselves without making comparisons. It is about recognizing our worth and value in God's eyes and not in the eyes of the world.
C. Moreover, integrity is about responsibility. It is about carrying each other's burdens and fulfilling the law of Christ. This is not about taking on someone else's responsibilities or solving their problems for them. Rather, it is about supporting and helping each other through life's challenges. It is about being there for one another in times of need, showing compassion and empathy, and doing what we can to lighten the load.
D. Integrity is not just about our actions but also about our attitudes. It is about having a humble and servant-like heart. It is about putting others before ourselves and seeking to serve rather than be served. It is about being selfless and sacrificial, just as Christ was for us.
E. Integrity is a powerful force that can transform our lives and the lives of those around us. It can bring healing and restoration, foster unity and harmony, and promote growth and maturity. It can also bring blessings and rewards, both in this life and in the life to come.
F. However, integrity is not something that comes naturally to us. It is something that we need to cultivate and develop through prayer, study of God's Word, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It requires discipline, commitment, and perseverance. It requires us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Christ.
G. Integrity is a journey, not a destination. It is a process of becoming more like Christ, who is the perfect embodiment of integrity. It is about striving to live a life that is pleasing to God, a life that reflects His love, grace, and truth.
