INSTRUCTIONS FROM JAIRUS
MARK 5:21-24,
21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. 22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
Today is Fathers day and I will speak to Fathers and those that are taking Fathers place in the home.
One of the name’s used to describe our God is Jehovah Shammah--THE GOD WHO IS THERE,
Many homes in American are suffering from the phantom father.
The father who is not there & even in some homes even when he is there, their not there.
Hundreds of men have fathered children, & simply walked away from the family—
Let me say fathering a child does not make a man a father.
To be a father carries with it great responsibilities.
A decade ago, the number of murders committed by teen was approx. 1000 a year, today it is 4000 a year.
Some would like to blame poverty, broken homes both physical & mental abuse--but one psychologist says “there are many that come form the same back grounds that are not committing acts of violence”—
Because of a lack of father figures in the Home-- in the past 30 years there have been:
550% increase in violent crime
400% increase in illegitimate births
200% increase in teen. pregnancies.
300% increase in teen suicide
More that 70% of all juveniles in state reform institutions come from fatherless homes.
The home doesn’t need a man in the house, it needs a father!
Jairus, was a religious man, a ruler of the synagogue, he was also a father--
Jarius was an elder of the synagogue-; his position made him one of the most prominent men of the congregation.
He was neither a teacher nor a preacher, but was responsible for the order of the synagogue service. The city manage so to speak.
We see a man who had a desperate need-
You will never become so powerful, so popular, you will never rise so high that problems, & troubles can not reach you.
This man’s little girl, the apple of his eye, was dying
1. SHE SAW HE WAS NOT ASHAMED TO SEEK JESUS:
He sought Jesus--he did not send his wife, or someone else.
When you are a father, you have the responsibilities of a father, given to by the heavenly father:
Paul tells us:
Ephesians 6:4 (AMP.)
FATHERS, DO NOT IRRITATE & PROVOKE YOUR CHILDREN TO ANGER [DO NOT EXASPERATE THEM TO RESENTMENT] BUT REAR THEM [TENDERLY] IN THE TRAINING & DISIPLINE & THE COUNCIL & ADMONITION OF THE LORD
It is the father’s responsibility to teach children about God, it is not the mothers; it is not the church-
Many mothers & churches have had to take on the responsibility, because the father refuses to do it:
*It is the Father that gives unto your children the upbringing that prepares them for living lives that are pleasing unto God.
*It is the family unit, not the church that is responsible for the Biblical & Spiritual training of the children *Church & Sunday school only assist you in your training of your children:
1. Dedicate your children to God -- they are a gift from God—If you don’t believe their a gift, go ask a couple that cannot have children,
God has placed them in your care--HANDLE THEM WITH CARE--& once dedicated--YOU hold to what you told God you would do.
2.Teach your children to fear the Lord, & to turn away from evil, & to love righteousness. To Hate iniquity--instill in them Gods attitude toward sin--Live before God, the way you would have them live before God
3. Protect them from ungodly influences--Satan is out to destroy them.
4. Establish them in Church---if YOU are not faithful to God’s house, nether will they
5.Encourage them to remain separate from this world,
Instill in them some Godly standards,
There is still a Word in the Bible called fornication: -
Sex before marriage is a sin, living together out side the bounds of marriage is a sin.
Teach them to fear, & reverence God & His Name, His Word, & His House--
6. Instruct them in the importance in the Baptism of the Holy Ghost:
7. Teach them God has a purpose for there life-
8. Instruct them the importance of Prayer & the Word of God--have family devotions
9. Teach by your life, your actions, not just words --for words mean very little, if they’re not applied.
