“Inner Healing- Let the Transformation Begins”
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Body:
An excerpt from Steven Furtick’s preaching on “Fighting The Wrong Battles” which i would quote it in here because of it’s relation to our topic of inner healing. Here it is. Thanks Mr.Furtick for such illumination...
“I thought I was fighting someone, and i thought i was fighting something, but the real fight, the real war, the real battle was not a battle with them; it was the battle within! I need to confess to you that there had been times in my life that i am Saul. I’ve been fighting the wrong battles. I’ve been trying to kill what God is trying to use, I’ve been exploding and freaking on people, and in a bad mood with people, and if I would just bless the Lord, If i could only get myself right, if i could only get my mind right, if i could get my eyes fix, if i could get it together. You see, Saul is a walking, talking civil war. He is taking out what is happening within himself on the closest available target. Parents do it all the time to their children. It’s not that you don’t love them, you love them more than you love yourself, but you don’t love yourself. And so you can not give them the love you have for them that you have, if there is no love of God that flows to you, You are not fighting them. Stop yelling at your wife. I am fighting myself. And when I am at war within myself, and when I am a wretched man, and when I am fighting what Paul calls the weapons of this world, when I am fighting within myself, and fighting the very things that God is trying to use in my life, and slinging spears at David, the very one that God sent to fight my battles, I wonder, are you trying to kill something, that God is trying to use in your life? Sometimes I am fighting against what I should be fighting for.”
1- REALIZE THE LOVE OF GOD FOR US IS IN CHRIST JESUS ALONE:
( this will help us open up and receive inner healing)
Knowing the true nature of our heavenly Father will help us to trust Him and open ourselves up so that we can receive the healing that only the Holy Spirit can provide for us.
1) Romans 8:32, "He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
After Christ has suffered and died for us, why would He withhold healing our wounded souls? We can confidently open up to Him and know that He has our best interests in mind simply by looking at what He went through on the cross for us.
We are loved by God, not because of what we’ve done, but because of who we are. The Bible tells us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He longed to have a relationship with us even before we became His child! Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
2) John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends."
Jesus said that the greatest love a man can show for His friends, is when He lays down His life for them. Jesus laid down His life for us - that is how valuable and dear we are to Him!
Did you know that God loves us with the same love that He had towards Jesus Himself? Yes, believe it or not, this is true! I want you to look up this verse in your Bible: John 17:23, "I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me."
It is absolutely essential that we learn of and realize the love that our heavenly Father has for us. Without knowing the love of God for us, we cannot be filled with His fullness: Ephesians 3:17-19, "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God." And in verse 20 of Ephesians 3 is the power of the Holy Spirit working restoration of healing within us! God our Father gave Jesus to die on the Cross and pay for the sins of mankind as a result of the deception in the Fall of Adam and Eve, In His Resurrection, Jesus paved the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit to those who will believed in Him. That’s why Jesus said; “You shall easily know them!”
