“In the Midnight Hour”
Acts 16:22-33
By the help of the Holy Spirit, I want to talk to you from the subject, “In the Midnight Hour”.
We all face times of trouble even in trying times that seems critical.
But you know in spite of all that. In spite how and what life or the Devil throws at you even times when it just seems dark, there's always midnight.
Midnight is a time that is between late night and early morning and there's a lot that goes on even at midnight.
People doing their best dirt in the midnight hour slippin' and a slidin' peepin' and a hidin' all that going on in the midnight hour. Those meeting “Strangers in the Night” while having a “Sexual Healing” all this during the midnight hour.
In our scripture today, a different setting has taking place during that time; in the midnight hour. A time when praise was going on in the midnight hour. A time of miracles was going on in spite of the situation in the midnight hour.
Paul and Silas were on locked down. They were stripped of their clothes and beaten, and the Bible tells us they were beaten with many stripes.
After they were beaten, they were thrown into prison with their feet in stocks. Some of you right now are bound with chains of hatred, chains of addiction, chains of abuse, chains of any vice that grips you. But I am here to tell you that you can have those chains broken by the power of God today.
While Paul and Silas were on locked down, it was in the midnight hour, that Paul and Silas prayed and lifted up their voices in praise and suddenly, there was an earthquake. This was the best prison break ever. Has God shaken up your present situation today? Shake up sickness, shake up depression, shake up that addiction shake up that thing in your midnight hour?
And so, the earthquake came and the doors of the prison flew open and everyone's chains were loose then the jailer awaken and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword
and about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners escaped. Isn't that like God? He can open doors when they are shut even in the midnight hour.
Paul told them not to hurt themselves and letting them know that they are all here. And it was that moment he asked Paul, “how must I be saved?”
Yes, I am here to tell you that strange things can happen in the midnight hour. When your body is wrecked with pain and it seems like there is nothing to be done you can cry to Jesus in the midnight hour.
When you've been crying all night long and you can cry out to Jesus even in the midnight hour. When your money seems funny and your change gets strange you can call on Jesus in the midnight hour.
When the wife is acting up and the kids are going crazy, you can call on Jesus even in the midnight hour.
Don't you know that Jesus can turn your midnights into day and bring sunshine even on a cloudy day because He told us that, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” John 8:12.
