Summary: We got to trust Him in the darkest hour of our life! That is faith! Fear stumbles and hinders our faith.

In the darkest hour…….

Luke 24:38”And Jesus said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?”

Despite the heavy, long and solid learning sessions that the disciples had with Jesus day in and day out, here we see them scared, afraid, confused, doubtful and perplexed! Jesus with pristine clarity had revealed to them the details of the trials that he would face from the hands of the Roman soldiers, his horrific death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day as well; yet, they were petrified and gathered in a room. The incidents at Golgotha where they saw Jesus go through the beastliest and ghastly torture had shaken them so much that they had forgotten the Words and promises of Jesus! Jesus did not leave them there to doubt, panic and rot – He showed up in their midst! Hallelujah! Time to rejoice! He would come and pick you up too! Fear not!

Several years back, while working for a bank, during tea time, I was sitting with my friend on the stair case and explaining this incident of Jesus showing up to His disciples and comforting them in their time of fear and confusion. Jesus did not stop with just preaching, but He went further to say, “See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."(Luke 24:39) Then He asked them for something to eat and He ate before them. This incident moved me tremendously and I narrated this scripture to my friend with tears rolling down my cheek. His love moved me to tears! My friend who heard me share the Gospel every day at tea breaks and in the prayer cell at the office got saved and took immersion water baptism. Further two of her sister-in-laws took water baptism as well. Such is the power of His love!

We got to trust Him in the darkest hour of our life! That is faith! Fear stumbles and hinders our faith. When we take our eyes off Jesus then we panic, it is predominant that we spend several hours in the Bible if we need to be routed in Christ. Are you listening? I write this devotion after spending sufficient time in His Word and at His feet and on a day of fasting – let the power of God touch you! Yes, it was the most scariest period in the lives of the disciples with their Master and Savior not with them and crucified brutally; yet, God wants us to trust Him in the time of crisis. Are you listening to me?

May be the doctor has given you a bad report, do not panic, trust in the miracle working power of Jesus, He said, “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.”(Mark 11:23) Amen. You don’t need any proof to believe His Words, look back on your life, think of His goodness in the past, meditate His miracles and trust that the same God would do that again.
