Once a upon a time in a far away land in the book of Judges, chapter 16 there was a mighty warrior named Samson. One day this warrior sees this beautiful woman named Delilah, and instantly falls in love with this stunning creature. It was undoubtedly love at first sight. Samson didn’t really care about who she was, who her people were or her agenda. He was totally intoxicated and blinded by her beauty and her delicateness.

As they say love and cough can’t be hidden, Samson’s enemies, the Philistine leaders notice Samson’s love and devotion for Delilah and they recruit her in an undercover operation to lure Samson into revealing secret of his great strength and how he can be tied and overpowered. She was paid a high price to get the job done.

Who is this Samson? What’s so special about him? Why such an undercover operation needed to conquer him?

Samson was outstanding because of his unparalleled strength. He couldn’t be defeated by his enemies. Samson was born with a special calling and he was consecrated and anointed from the mother’s womb to defeat the Philistines. He was brought up as a Nazarite, dedicated to God and whose head was never to be touched by a razor.

Samson was Philistines’ biggest threat, so the enemy needed to stop this guy, conquer him and destroy his power no matter what. Strategically they employs a beautiful woman, Delilah, a philistine woman to get the job done. Delilah was completely Samson’s type, in Hebrew Delilah means delicate and also her name means the one who weakens. Delilah indeed was a man’s weakness.

Now Delilah walks up to Samson, all dressed up and seduces the man to tell her the secret about how he can be overpowered, tied up and subdued. First he tells her couple of Jokes about how he can be conquered. But Delilah is a woman with a mission, she is paid by the enemy and doesn’t give up. She keeps on trying, day by day, use all her female tricks and ultimately she emotionally blackmails him saying that if Samson truly loves her he will reveal the secret. Finally Samson announces his own death sentence and reveals how he can be weakened.

Mission accomplished ! Delilah makes Samson sleep on her lap and while he was sleeping she gets someone to shave his head which was never touched by a razor and that was it. With that, His anointing leaves him, making him a vulnerable, weak man. A once strong anointed, chosen man who couldn’t be defeated by an entire army was totally conquered in the lap of a delicate, silky smooth woman who was recruited by the enemy. Samson was then captured, tortured, his anointing was gone, his power was gone, his eye sight was gone, he is a total mess and also with a huge heartache with Delilah’s betrayal. He is a total mess physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

So the moral of the story is that, the enemy hires people, not just ordinary people but our own personal brand of people, people to whom we get attracted to so badly, people with whom we fall head over heels in love, to lure us away from our calling, to destroy our anointing, to destroy our peace of mind, and emotionally wreck us, leave us long lasting bleeding hurts and scares, keep us trapped and drive us away from our calling. All that can be done by a delicate woman hired by the enemy. So, these women’s mission hired by the enemy is to steal, kill and destroy the person, to suck the life out of the chosen man, they don’t come to fall in love.

As people of God we need to discern the spirit of people that come into our lives. These stories are recorded and preserved for a reason. Let’s not let the enemy to distract us from our calling using covert operatives.

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:10-20, 22-31

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Shalom !
